FRINGE
Season 2
09/17/10
OVERVIEW: When the unimaginable transpires on screen, you know Fringe creators J.J. Abrams, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (the team behind Star Trek, Mission: Impossible III and Alias) are behind it. Witness as the impossible becomes possible and worlds literally collide when Warner Home Video releases the hit TV series Fringe: The Complete Second Season on Blu-ray™ and DVD on September 14, 2010.
SYNOPSIS: Return to explore the boundaries of a mysterious mythology that holds millions of viewers in its hypnotic grasp. Season two of Fringe contains worlds (and alternate worlds) of excitement complete with shape shifters, cryonic heads, belly-dwelling beasts and people who turn to ashes before our eyes. But the overarching narrative takes the FBI’s Fringe Division – which includes Special Agent Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv – The Pacific), formerly institutionalized “fringe” scientist Walter Bishop (John Noble – The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King) and his son, Peter (Joshua Jackson – Dawson’s Creek) – through a mind-bending investigation of a parallel reality that threatens to destroy ours. The impossible is here in a series that The New York Times says offers “the most satisfying, coherent story arc of any science-fiction-flavored primetime drama.”
SEASON REVIEW: Those who have seen the
first season can't forget the wonderful performance by John Noble. In
every single episode John have a couple of funny lines to
say and he nails them all the time. His performance is truly
marvelous. Lance Reddick is as good here as he was in the
few episodes of Lost we saw him in. Even Johua Jackson who I
did not like in Dawson's Creek gives a continues to deliver
a good performance. As
for Anna Torv she has a lot on her shoulders having to carry
the load of this show, however just proof worth of it with
her splendid performance.
My only compliant with the show
continues to be
that it has too must filler and the structure which features
a weird phenomenon a week. If it wasn't for the filler this
would probably be the best show on TV. However, this
probably has to do with the executives at Fox who didn't
want a show that audience couldn't jump right in at any time
during the season.
The DVD discs for Fringe looks amazing. Even the cover is
nice. The people at Warner Bros. take their material
seriously and it's easy to tell that they spend their time
coming up with the design and bonus material and with over 4
hours there is enough material here to keep even the average
fan busy.
