ATLAS INDEPENDENT’S “REVENGE FOR JOLLY!” SELLS TO SONY PICTURES WORLDWIDE ACQUISITIONS

Atlas Independent announced today Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions has acquired Revenge for Jolly!, for distribution in the U.S. and Canada. The acquisition marks the first for the newly-formed affiliate company of Charles Roven’s Atlas Entertainment. A unique dark comedy that examines the moral ambiguity of revenge, the film most recently premiered at the 2012 Tribeca Film Festival. The deal was negotiated by Sony with UTA Independent Film Group.

Directed by Chadd Harbold and written by Brian Petsos, Revenge for Jolly! stars Petsos and Oscar Isaac, with special cameos by Elijah Wood, Adam Brody, Ryan Phillippe, and Kristen Wiig among others. The film follows a man (Petsos) who, with the help of his cousin (Isaac), seeks to avenge the death of his beloved dog, who was killed under confusing and suspicious circumstances. The two men follow a series of clues in an attempt to track down the dog’s murderer, leaving a path of destruction in their wake.

Atlas Independent’s William Green and Aaron Ginsburg produced the film alongside Brian Petsos and his company, A Saboteur. Atlas’ Alan Glazer executive produced the project along with Chris Wilmot, Michael Wunderman, Peter Fruchtman and Dan Berk.

Seven Oaks is an East Coast college with beautiful Greek Revival architecture and a boorish male student population. Decades after coeducation’s arrival the male atmosphere still prevails. A dynamic trio of girls — group leader Violet Wister (Greta Gerwig), principled Rose (Megalyn Echikunwoke) and sexy Heather (Carrie MacLemore) — decide to change all that, setting out to rescue their fellow students from depression, grunge and low standards of every kind.

At New Student Orientation the trio spots lost-looking Lily (Analeigh Tipton) and takes her under wing. Meanwhile the girls become romantically entangled with a series of men — including slick Charlie (Brody), dreamboat Xavier (Becker) and the mad frat pack of Frank (Metcalf) and Thor (Magnussen) — who threaten their friendship and sanity.

Over the course of one raucous night at a seaside wedding seven close friends, all members of a tight, eclectic college clique, reconvene to watch two of their own tie the knot. Laura (Katie Holmes) is maid of honor to Lila (Anna Paquin), her golden girl best friend. The two have long rivaled over the groom, Tom (Josh Duhamel).
