WOLFE ACQUIRES ALL NORTH AMERICAN RIGHTS TO WHITE FROG

Wednesday, August 29th, 2012

Wolfe Video has acquired all North American rights to Director Quentin Lee’s (The People I’ve Slept With) all-star family drama WHITE FROG. The deal was brokered by Wolfe President Maria Lynn with Preferred Content’s Kevin Iwashina and Christine D’Souza working on behalf of the filmmakers. The cast includes Booboo Stewart (The Twilight Saga), Joan Chen (1911, TV’s “Twin Peaks”), BD Wong (TV’s “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”), Harry Shum Jr. (TV’s “Glee”), Gregg Sulkin (TV’s “Wizards of Waverly Place,” “Melissa & Joey”), Kelly Hu (X2, TV’s “The Vampire Diaries”) and Tyler Posey (TV’s “Teen Wolf”). High-school freshman, Nick (Stewart), is a neglected teen with mild Asperger’s syndrome whose life is challenged and ultimately changed forever when tragedy hits his family. WHITE FROG had its world premiere as the opening night film at the 2012 San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival, where star Joan Chen was also honored for her body of work, and is currently playing film festivals across the country. The film is scheduled for a theatrical run, followed by its debut on VOD and DVD in 2013.

“Quentin Lee has created a heart-felt film with a stunning cast of some of our favorite faces,” said Wolfe President Maria Lynn. “We are thrilled to be working together on his newest project.”

“Since the beginning of my career, I have admired Wolfe’s tenacity and taste as a distributor of independent films,” said Director Quentin Lee. “I’m pleased and excited that WHITE FROG has found a home with Kathy, Maria and the entire Wolfe family.”

SYNOPSIS: After the death of his popular brother Chaz (Shum), Nick (Stewart), who suffers from Asperger’s syndrome, struggles to carry on. Nick’s parents have their own problems coping with the loss, but Chaz’s best friend Randy (Sulkin) takes Nick under his wing. As Chaz’s family comes to understand his secret life, they will be forced to reconcile the boy they thought they knew with the man he really was. WHITE FROG is a universal story of the power of family, friendship and love positioned to appeal to a broad audience in the same way as Ordinary People and Stand By Me.

Directed by Quentin Lee, WHITE FROG was written by Fabienne Wen and Ellie Wen and produced by Chris Lee, Joel Soisson, and Ellie Wen. It was executive produced by David Henry Hwang and Kevin Iwashina.
