REVIEW: 12 MONKEYS SEASON ONE
OVERVIEW: A deadly viral outbreak will devastate humanity unless a mysterious time traveler can stop it in 12 Monkeys: Season One, coming to Blu-ray™ and DVD on January 19, 2016, from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. Based on Terry Gilliam's classic 1995 sci-fi thriller starring Bruce Willis, 12 Monkeys captivated critics and viewers alike in its debut season on Syfy, inspiring Mary McNamara of LA Times to write, "Perfectly paced, smartly adapted and studded with moments of philosophy and emotion." As fans eagerly anticipate Season 2, returning on Syfy in April 2016, the three-disc set brings together all 13 thrilling season one episodes, as well as exclusive bonus features including deleted scenes, webisodes and the original cast auditions. 12 Monkeys: Season One is developed by executive producers Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett as well as Natalie Chaidez ("Hunters," "Sarah Connor Chronicles"), Charles Roven and Richard Suckle from Atlas Entertainment.
SYNOPSIS: Utilizing a dangerous and untested method of
time travel, James Cole (Aaron Stanford – "Nikita," X-Men 2,
X-Men: The Last Stand), a man from the post-apocalyptic future,
travels to the present day on a mission to locate and eradicate
the source of a deadly plague. But as he and virologist Dr.
Cassandra Railly (Amanda Schull – "Suits," Center Stage) track
the 12 Monkeys, a shadowy cult behind the outbreak, the effects
of their time travel threaten to destroy humanity's last hope.
Tense, haunting and inventive, 12 Monkeys is a "fast-paced
sci-fi thriller" (Mary McNamara, LA Times) to experience again
and again on Blu-ray™ and DVD.
