REVIEW: BIG STONE GAP
1/31/2016

OVERVIEW:
Adriana Trigiani, acclaimed author of "The Shoemaker's Wife" and "All the Stars in the Heavens" makes her directing and screenwriting debut with a hilarious and heartwarming portrait of the down-to-earth townsfolk of her childhood in Big Stone Gap, coming to Digital HD on January 19, 2016 and Blu-ray™, DVD, and On Demand on February 2, 2016, from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. Adapted from Trigiani's New York Times bestseller, Big Stone Gap is "A heartfelt and earnest homespun comedy about the family ties that bind us all together" (Travis Hopson, Examiner.com). Packed with behind-the-scenes bonus features, Big Stone Gap on Blu-ray™ and DVD includes an array of interviews with cast and crew plus a visit to the film's premiere at the Virginia Film Festival.
SYNOPSIS: It's 1978 and the ever-ordinary Ave Maria Mulligan (Ashley Judd) leads a simple life. She lives with her mother, runs the pharmacy, directs The Trail of the Lonesome Pine Outdoor Drama, and hopes that her best friend will take their platonic friendship in a romantic direction. Ave Maria waits, and before she knows it, she turns 40. Now the old maid of Big Stone Gap, Ave Maria decides that happiness is for other people – that is, until a long-buried family secret throws her quiet life spectacularly off-course.
