Disney's The Kid: Friday  July 7, 2000

If you had a chance to meet yourself as an 8-year-old child, would that kid be happy with who you turned out to be? In Russ Duritz's case, the answer is a big "NO!"
Bruce Willis stars as Russ Duritz, a high-powered, successful "image consultant" whose life is suddenly turned upside down when he magically meets Rusty (Spencer Breslin), himself as an 8-year-old child. Rusty is a sweet, but slightly geeky, pudgy little kid who is not at all happy with who he turns out to be -- a 40-year-old "loser" without a wife or a dog. Ironically, the kid helps Russ learn about himself and remember his dreams as a kid, in order to become the grown up he wants to be. .  -- © 2000 Walt Disney Pictures

I do not agree with the negative reviews I have read about Disney's The Kid.  I took four kids, ages 5 to 11 to see the film today, and we ALL left saying how much we enjoyed it.  Spencer is an absolute hoot ..  his voice and gestures are so memorable.  The pairing with Bruce Willis is perfect. I really enjoyed the film, and plan to purchase it on video. I will tell my friends to ignore the negative reviews - this is worth seeing! Kimberly Carden Louisville, KY

I'm with Roger Ebert on this one.  It is definitely worth seeing.  It is soooooo well done in achieving the effects needed to "hook" you into "believing" the the meetings of you young and old Bruce Willis.  It even seemed to touch a chord of truth in "who we all are."  Excellent entertainment.

Beautiful massage on how we are caught in this busy world that we forget that we need to slow down and relax our stress.
