SEASON REVIEW: We are
up to the 4th season of one of my favorite series of all
time, and there are some absentee favorite but we have
several new cast members to be grateful for that bring charm
and excitement to this wonderful medical drama and keep
things fresh. It is always interesting to see the ongoing
relationships with these doctors, but it’s the individual
stories both tragic and inspirational in each episode that
make the series both entertaining and original.
In this season , our favorite surgeons are now residents,
except George O’Malley who must start his internship program
all over again, due to a failed grade. His marriage to
Callie begins to break down and she begins a very special
friendship with Dr. Erica Hahn, Seattle Grace’s new
cardiothoracic surgeon, and Burkes replacement, but
entangles herself with Dr. McSteamy, Mark Sloan as she
fights through what that friendship might mean. Izzie, who
is the reason for George’s marital breakdown, tries to
fashion a relationship with George out of their affair, but
to both their dismay, the lack of chemistry leaves them with
only a lukewarm friendship. Also new to the cast is Meredith
Gray’s sister, Lexi, who is a delightful addition to the
staff, as one of the new interns, which now shadow our old
interns-turned-residents. The relationship with these
sisters is shaky at best but there is a budding friendship
between Lexi and George, as well as a short-lived romance
with Alex Karev. Christina goes between getting over Burke
and their failed marriage attempt and trying to practice her
surgical field of choice, while Hahn, the head of said
chosen field, constantly reminds Christina of her contempt
for both her personally, and for her overeager desires to
please Hahn and learn from her. Finally, the reason why most
of us watch, the romance between Meredith and Dr. McDreamy,
Derek Shepard, is in jeopardy when a nurse, Rose, begins to
get in between Dr. Grey and Dr. Shepard . Dr. Shepard and
Rose begin to date, but a clinical trial that Dr Grey begins
with Dr Shepard’s help continues to keep these two very
close, the chemistry and sexual tension between them is
undeniable and palpable, and, if your as captivated by this
romance as I am, the season finally is one you won’t want to
miss. Every individual episode with its medical dramas, and
assorted patients and illnesses that even include a tragedy
with Dr Bailey’s son, promise to keep you interested and
entertained and looking forward to the next episode. This
season was as emotional and sexually charged as the first
three, and I can’t wait for the new season to begin. It will
be like welcoming the return of old and great friends.
