SYNOPSIS: "Mother's Day" is the latest star studded ensemble comedy from director Garry Marshall ("Pretty Woman," "Valentine's Day"). Bringing together Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson, Julia Roberts, Jason Sudeikis, Shay Mitchell, Britt Robertson & Timothy Olyphant, it's a celebration of mothers everywhere. This big-hearted comedy invites us all to enjoy the laughter, tears and love as three generations come together in the week leading up to Mother's Day.

REVIEW: Not everybody is a mother, but everyone has or has had a mother, good or bad. So from that stand point, I think we can relate.

I went to see this film for two three reasons. One, I’m a mom and mother’s day is right around the corner. Two, I really needed a good laugh and thought, “why not!” And three, I knew the cast on this film would not let me down on point number three, make me laugh.

I was not disappointed on any of those points. Now I, as I’m sure many of you did have a reservation when it came to this movie being a cookie cutter multiple-storyline film. You know, Valentine’s Day, New Year’s Eve and such. All cute, but did they really make me laugh? Eh?

So, did it make me laugh? Let’s just say that I was overheard saying “I’m gonna pee my pants!” several times. So, I was very happy on that point. Regarding the cast? Well, come on! Jennifer Aniston should be named the queen of lighthearted comedy at this point, she leads the way as divorced mom raising two boys as her “fun-dad” ex-husband (Timothy Olyphant) surprises her with awesome news just before the holiday for which this movie is named. I think Mr. Olyphant is a bit of silver fox eye candy in this film. Jason Sudeikis is a widowed father raising two girls, running a successful Gym and going on with life. You could imagine that this would be a sad storyline, and it can be, but its Jason Sudeikis, yes, a little subdued but still funny.

Then there’s ever gorgeous Kate Hudson and Sarah Chalke playing sisters leading happy lives in Atlanta. Kate Married to a successful doctor played by Aasif Mandvi (always Hilarious), with a gorgeous little boy and Sarah, married to a lovely, creative….woman. Life is lovely for the two sisters, living right next door to each other except when their parents come for a surprise Mother’s Day visit. All heck breaks loose! Let’s just say that Texan mom Flo (Margo Martindale) and Earl (Robert Pine) are just a little old fashioned to out it nicely. This storyline is one of the ones that made laugh the hardest. If political incorrectness cracks you up, this one will do it. Side note, can I say I know where Chris Pine gets his good looks?!? Cine Marcos accepts that Chris is one of my crushes, but I’m gonna go ahead and add his dad to my list.

Then on a more heartfelt note, the storyline of Kristin (Britt Robertson) and Miranda (Julia Roberts). Kristin and her boyfriend, Zack, played by super cute brit, Jack Whitehall, are new parents, very much in love but Kristin has commitment issues. She needs to deal with her past. Julia is a super successful, QVC or HSN type. She’s dedicated her life to business and she’s darn good at it. Let’s just say that you don’t realize that these two stories connect but oh, they do. If you love sappy happy endings, their story will do it for you.

There are so many funny cameos in this film that you will actually have fun finding them yourself but I thought you should also keep an eye out for three really cute kids that come out several times in the Julia Roberts storyline. Let’s just say they are the Moder kids. I laughed, I cried, I had a moment here and there and I truly enjoyed watching this film. So buy mom a nice gift, get her flowers, take her to lunch and then end the day by taking her to see Mother’s Day….on Mother’s day!
