FILM REVIEW: On September 21,
2010, Disney Home Entertaiments is releasing the third
chapter to their direct to video smash hit Tinker Bell. Even Disney underestimated the Tinker Bell market, and where pleasantly surprised by how well the
previous DVD/Blu-ray releases did. So, now comes the
third.
From the preview, I was looking forward to this movie, because I like big adventure movies. The first Tinker Bell movie tells the story of how Tinker Bell came to be and how she came to accept that she is a Tinker Fairy(a fairy that fixes things).
The second Tinker Bell movie is about a big adventure, and we actually see Tinker Bell leave Pixie
Hollow. Now in third one we get to finally see Tinker's
interaction with humans.
He is my main problem with the movie, the adventure is not long enough. Am I saying I wanted a longer Tinker Bell movie? Yes, I think the adventure should have been longer with greater foes. Maybe the movie needs a central enemy like Captain Hook. Wouldn't it be awesome to see a movie about how Tinker Bell met Peter Pan?
The one good thing about the adventure is that Tinker meets
the humans and kids finally get to see the fantasy and
imaginations of fairys, just like it happen to wendy. I hope to see
more of this interaction again in future films. I know that Disney is trying to develop this into a continuing series, so I hope they continue to improve the story lines.
Even thought I'm giving the movie three stars, I know most kids under five would give it a five star rating. So, if you have a child under five, more than likely you'll be standing in line Tuesday to purchase this movie. I know I will.
BLU-RAY: Tinker Bell
and Great Fairy Rescue Five is presented in a stunning 1080P
widescreen with a 2.35:1 enhanced for 16x9 TV sets.
The transfer looks very clean with flawless pictures, giving
animation the clarity and smoothness that only high
definition can provide. Walt Disney Studios did a phenomenal
job in this production. Not only the picture looks excellent
in this release, also the sound it is good, a 5.1 Dolby DTS
HD in English and 5.1 French and Spanish audio that provides
a nice complement to the picture. It also subtitles in
Spanish, French and English.
In terms of special
features the Blu-ray a few. It includes deleted scenes, a
fairies knowledge game called "Fairy Filed Guide
Builder" , Desing a Fairy House" and a the
new music video "How to Believe" performed
by Bridgit Mendlers.
