REVIEW: NURSE JACKIE SEASON 1
02/17/10
Television’s
most critically-acclaimed new series “Nurse Jackie” comes to DVD
and Blu-ray Disc February 23, 2010 from Lionsgate. Three-time
Primetime EmmyŇ winner Edie Falco (Outstanding Lead Actress in a
Drama Series, “The Sopranos,” 1999, 2001 and 2003,) “is
outstanding” (Time Magazine) as Jackie Peyton, a flawed
emergency room nurse in New York City, who is struggling to find
a balance between the demands of her frenetic job and an array
of personal dramas. For Jackie, every day is a high wire act of
juggling patients, doctors, fellow nurses and her own
indiscretions.
“Nurse Jackie” was Showtime’s most-successful premiere to date
and the groundbreaking series has garnered enormous critical
acclaim. TV Guide proclaimed the show “wildly entertaining,”
Entertainment Weekly hailed “you just want to keep watching,” NY
Daily News exclaimed “a splendid addition to Showtime’s lineup”
and The Washington Post called it “one of the true choice cuts
of the year.” The DVD and Blu-ray Disc include all 12 episodes
of the debut season plus extensive commentaries, interviews and
innovative featurettes. In addition, the Blu-ray Disc will
feature episodes in 1080P High Definition widescreen
presentation with 7.1 DTS HD Master Audio. “Take one great
actress and one great role; repeat for 12 weeks…do yourself a
favor…follow along” (USA Today).
