OVERVIEW: Sam Rockwell (Iron Man 2) stars as an adult misfit who is brought in to coach the local girls’ high school basketball team in the funny and uplifting sports drama The Winning Season, coming to DVD, Digital Download and On Demand from Lionsgate this November. Supported by an all-star cast including Emma Roberts (Valentine’s Day), Rob Corddry (Hot Tub Time Machine) and Rooney Mara (upcoming The Social Network, upcoming The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), this Sundance Film Festival selection is a touching blend of drama and comedy that brings “Bad News Bears into the world of high school girls’ basketball” (Screen International) and will leave audiences laughing and cheering. The Winning Season is a slam dunk on DVD November 23rd.
SYNOPSIS: Ex-high school basketball star Bill (Rockwell) has been down on his luck for quite some time, living on his former glory. But when Bill runs out of options, his only choice to make ends meet is by coaching the local high school girls’ basketball team – and he soon discovers he has a lot more to learn from a group of girls than he could have ever expected.
