REVIEW: TOOTH
FAIRY
05/02/10

OVERVIEW: In the spirit of The Game Plan and The Pacifier comes a
funny “fish out of water comedy” perfect for the entire family. Hilarious and wholesome, Tooth Fairy
arrives on Blu-ray Disc/DVD Triple Play and DVD May 4 from Twentieth Century Fox Home
Entertainment. Dwayne Johnson (The Game Plan) stars as Derek Thompson, a hard-charging minor
league hockey player whose nickname comes from his ability to knock out other players’ teeth. After
discouraging a youngster’s hopes, he is ordered to one week’s hard labor as the real Tooth Fairy,
complete with the requisite tutu, wings and magic wand. At first he “can’t handle the tooth,” but
eventually learns how to adapt to his new position and finds himself rediscovering his own forgotten
dreams.
SYNOPSIS: Dwayne Johnson is "The Tooth Fairy," also known as Derek Thompson, a hard-charging hockey player whose nickname comes from his habit of separating opposing players from their bicuspids. When Derek discourages a youngster's dreams, he's sentenced to one week's hard labor as a real tooth fairy, complete with the requisite tutu, wings and magic wand. At first, Derek "can't handle the tooth" - bumbling and stumbling as he tries to furtively wing his way through strangers' homes...doing what tooth fairies do. But as Derek slowly adapts to his new position, he begins to rediscover his own forgotten dreams.
DVD: The Wrestler is presented in
a widescreen format with a 1.85:1 aspect ration. The
transfer looks clean, judging from the watermark screening
received it is very difficult to determine the real quality
of the video, however I wont doubt that the final product
will be just fine. The picture is
complemented with a 5.1 Dolby digital sound with Spanish and English subtitles.
In terms of special
features the single disc DVD doesn't include anything to get
excited. It includes only a couple. The first
featurette is "Fairy-oke", which is
a karaoke song perform by the star tooth fairies of the
films. The second one is “Train to be a Tooth Fairy” interactive feature
which is a little workout featurette for the little ones.
Overall despite the absent of classic moments, "Tooth
Fairy" managed to delivered decent family
entertainment. Ones again is Dwayne Johnson who
makes the movie worth at least a rental.
