From director Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes) comes the new action thriller PIRANHA. Every year the population of sleepy Lake Victoria explodes from 5,000 to 50,000 for Spring Break, a riot of sun and drunken fun. But this year, there's something more to worry about than hangovers and complaints from local old timers; a new type of terror is about to be cut loose on Lake Victoria. After a sudden underwater tremor sets free scores of the prehistoric man-eating fish, an unlikely group of strangers must band together to stop themselves from becoming fish food for the area's new razor-toothed residents. The films stars Jessica Szohr (Gossip Girl), Steven R. McQueen (The Vampire Diaries), Elisabeth Shue, Jerry O'Connell, Ving Rhames, Richard Dreyfuss, Kelly Brook and Christopher Lloyd.

Piranha 3d delivers the gore, at least in it's second half, and delivers the boobs ( no complaints here), in the first half, with good enough pacing that would usually drag the second act of a b movie like this into the whole from where those pirahanas came from.
Superb casting of Richard Dreyfus and Christopher Lloyd (in an all too lean part), and Elisabeth Shue does her best at making us she's a sheriff. Decent CGI, but as with the original watching small fish rip into human flesh just ain't that appealing. There's enough gore on hand to justify the ticket price, and one character's dismembered member has considerately more screen time than you would think the MPAA might allow.
