REVIEW: SHOT IN THE DARK
06/20/11

OVERVIEW: AIn his directorial debut, actor-musician-filmmaker Adrian Grenier (Entourage®) embarks on a personal quest to find the biological father he’d never really known. A touching exploration into the meaning of fatherhood, Shot in the Dark makes a perfect gift for Father’s Day. The DVD, which includes an audio commentary from Grenier and producers Jonathan Davidson and Jim Mol, as well as an update on Adrian and his family today and a never-before-seen look behind the scenes of the “(You Drive Me) Crazy” music video, will be out on June 14, 2011 from HBO Home
Entertainment.
An HBO Documentary Films presentation, Shot in the Dark chronicles Grenier’s on-the-road journey, capturing a private, emotional side of the actor. Before his success as an actor, Grenier began a personal filmmaking project devoted to finding his father. Over the course of his search, he spoke to a variety of fathers and sons, gaining insight into the meaning of fatherhood. Ultimately, Grenier finds his father in Ohio and after a series of sometimes awkward phone calls finally meets with him. Face-to-face for their first in-person talk in almost 20 years, their heart-to-heart sheds light on why his parents separated after he was born. With a newfound sense of self, Grenier talks with his mother again about the estrangement, then reunites with his father one more time – in dramatic fashion.
