OVERVIEW:
The Guard, written and directed by John Michael McDonagh (Ned Kelly) and starring Golden Globe® nominee Brendan Gleeson (2009 Best Actor in a Motion Picture Comedy or Musical, In Bruges; 2010 Best Actor in a Miniseries or Motion Picture made for Television, Into the Storm), Academy Award® nominee Don Cheadle (2005 Best Actor in a Leading Role, Hotel Rwanda), Mark Strong (Green Lantern, Sherlock Holmes) and Fionnula Flanagan (TV’s Lost) will be released on Blu-ray™ and DVD on January 3, 2012 from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. This Sony Pictures Classics film will be available
on Blu-ray and
DVD. Special features on both versions of The Guard will include a commentary with Director John Michael McDonagh and actors Brendan Gleeson and Don Cheadle, deleted scenes, outtakes, a making-of featurette and McDonagh’s short film, The Second Death.
SYNOPSIS:
The Guard is a comedic fish-out-of-water tale of murder, blackmail, drug trafficking and rural police corruption. Two policemen must join forces to take on an international drug-smuggling gang – one, an unorthodox Irish policeman and the other, a straitlaced FBI agent.
DVD: The film is
presented in widescreen in a 2.35:1 aspect ration
preserving its theatrical format. The picture is just
flawless. Not only the picture looks great in
this release, also the sound it is good, a 5.1 Dolby Digital
in English that provides a
good complement to the picture. It also includes
English Spanish Portuguese
subtitles.
