REVIEW: ORANGES AND SUNSHINE
6/24/12

In 1986, Margaret Humphreys was
approached by a woman who needed help finding her parents. When
she was four years old, she was shipped to Australia on a boat
with hundreds of other children. The Next day, Margaret heard
about a similar experience from another woman who received a
letter from her brother in Australia. After searching for more
information about these related events, she quickly discovers
the painful truth behind what actually happened.
ORANGES AND SUNSHINE tells the
unforgettable true story of Margaret Humphreys (Emily Watson), a
social worker who uncovered on of the most controversial
scandals of recent times: the organized deportation of innocent
children from UK to Australia, where they were thought to be
lost in the system forever. Against overwhelming odds, and with
little regard for her own safety, Humphreys reunited thousands
of families and brought worldwide attention to a corrupt system
and an extraordinary miscarriage of justice.
