SYNOPSIS: In Men in Black™ 3, Agents J (Will Smith) and K (Tommy Lee Jones) are back... in time. J has seen some inexplicable things in his 15 years with the Men in Black, but nothing, not even aliens, perplexes him as much as his wry, reticent partner. But when K's life and the fate of the planet are put at stake, Agent J will have to travel back in time to put things right. J discovers that there are secrets to the universe that K never told him -- secrets that will reveal themselves as he teams up with the young Agent K (Josh Brolin) to save his partner, the agency, and the future of humankind. 

REVIEW: 

Agent J: I'm looking for K, have you seen him? Sort of a surly, older gentleman, smiles like this...

O: K's been dead for over forty years. 

What! With our third installment of MIB, we must travel through time to save the day, and Agent K. The time we must travel to is 1969 and the action, thrills, laughs, and threats to Earth’s existence are all just as good and intense. It should go without saying that if you enjoyed the first two MIBs, this one is a must see. The story continues and it’s still fun, hilarious, thrilling, and this time very touching. There is a lot of heart in it which adds to the overall movie experience. It’s got a little bit of everything. And, of course, it’s as gross as always. The 3D aspect was well used and it enhanced the excellent cinematography. No doubt the special effects were also excellent. I might not outwardly admit that I have a mild fear of heights, but I kind of do. This became more evident to me as I watched this film. There are a couple of scenes that will test you for that fear. I clung to the seat. It was impressive, what can I say? There were two other things that were equally impressive. Josh Brolin playing a young Agent K/Tommy Lee Jones was a real treat to watch. He nailed it. This guy has some talent. Not only is he a great actor, he can impersonate. He’s done a convincing George W. Bush for example and now this role was spot on. He looks just like him too. The other impressive thing is the really good twist near the end of the movie. If you are an MIB fan, you’re jaw will drop. It’s a twist that actually ties a lot together.

The cast, as usual, is very well rounded and full of familiar faces, and one particular hard to recognize face. The villain is Boris The Animal played by Jemaine Clement who looked familiar to me but I just couldn’t recognize him. He was very sharp with his role . . . menacing in an alien way. It was great to see Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones reprise their roles. They are the most important ingredients to the MIB series and they did just fine. There were some new faces to MIB but quite familiar to the general public such as Nicole Scherzinger, Alice Eve, and Bill Hader. They have brief screen time but still effective. Emma Thompson looked dashing as O, a successor to Zed. The storyline for this one was simple but interesting and well laid out. I won’t necessarily say that this one is better than the other two. I think they are all equally good. I only wish that Linda Fiorentino would have remained involved with the series. But at least we got Barry Sonnenfeld back to direct. Having done all three maintains a level of consistency which is a good thing. These films are his calling card and arguably his masterpieces.
