Money talks. As it shifts from one pocket to another, from one man’s drama to another, a lowly dollar bill, “1 buck,” takes us on an odyssey through the heart of a forgotten town in Louisiana. Along the journey, we encounter several characters such as Harry, cop immersed in a downward spiral brought about by the sudden and violent death of his wife. However, his demise ultimately serves up an opportunity for redemption and as he passes a single dollar onto his nephew for some ice cream, the story is set in motion. In its transitions from each hopeless or hopeful hand to another, each desperate character to the next, “1 buck” bears witness to different facets of irresistible vices enticed by money. If money really could talk, this is its disturbing tale of the dark side and moral disintegration of society.
