Erin Brockovich: Friday March 17, 2000

In a world where heroes are often in short supply, the story of Erin Brockovich is a stirring, funny and unconventional drama. Based on true events, two-time Academy Award nominee Julia Roberts stars as the twice-divorced mother of three young children who defies the odds by taking on and defeating a major public utilities company.
While working as a file clerk in a small law firm, Erin (Roberts) stumbles upon a cover-up involving contaminated water in a small desert community which is causing devastating illnesses. Infuriated by the deception, she convinces her boss (Finney) to allow her to investigate. Although the local citizens are initially leery of becoming involved, Erin’s brash manner and ability to speak to them clearly-and compassionately-earns their trust. With over 600 plaintiffs signed up, the unlikely duo go on to win the largest settlement ever paid in a direct-action suit…$333 million. In the process, she reinvents her life. -- © 2000 Universal Pictures

 The People's Review of Erin Brockovich

score = 100
I would add a + to that 100 had there been that option.
A few months ago I was in a relationship with a man who thought that a collage education was the only thing that made a person intelligent.  This made me feel less then a person because of the fact that I myself did not attend collage. ( I could not afford it)
I wish he would see this movie.  It proves that a person can be intelligent without having a degree.

comments = Since everyone says Erin Brockovich made it to to the does not make all opinions correct. however this would be a typical bashing on the male chauvnist out there. if you happen to be one and you have watched this movie and have yet to watch yet, i suggest that you watch it again and again until you have completely digested it in your systems. cos this movie proves that WOMEN are JUST AS CAPABLE as the MEN. and furthermore, julia roberts proved to be a good actress once again with quality and not just showing off a pretty face with an awesome smile...

score = 100
comments = Julia Roberts was Fantastic she just brightens the screen . Aaron Eckhart stole my heart as george it was nice to see a biker as a person who can love someone since in most movies they show them as trouble and unfeeling. Thumbs up I could watch this movie over and over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

score = 100
I thougt the movie was great.  Julie Roberts did an excellent job playing her role.  I would recommend anyone to see it.

Erin Brochovich was not just an amazing story of the accomplishments of a strongwilled woman, but a message to this society which does not fully appreciate hard work. Julia Roberts once again graces the screen with her impeccable acting while she is herself a genuine example of a hardworking woman. Julia Roberts shows her versatility as she plays the role of Erin Brochovich. Such a talented group of actors and actresses made this movie appeal to and entertain a variety of audiences!

One would hope that the executives of other  enterprises currently pollute this planet in whatever form, viewing this movie will come to realise that the time approaches when they too will be made to pay  primarily for their lack of respect for humanity. May,be the way to ensure this is to find and punish  the individuals who authorise such events.

This movie is incredible. Julia Roberts turns in an Academy-Award caliber performance! The other actors support her very well. Go see it! It's worth the 8 bucks!

This is a great movie with strong acting performances, funny dialogue, and a compelling storyline.  Watch for the waitress in one scene - it is the real Erin.

I loved it!!  Julia does not disappoint!!  This is an inspirational story which moves you to stand up and notice there are people out there too sick, too tired, and too weak to fight by themselves.  To the real Erin Brockovich I want to say thank you for the opportunity to see/hear your story, God Bless You!!

What a wonderful film. The cast was perfect and the writing spectacular. High points for art direction as every scene had such a "real" feel to it. The audience at the matinee was totally enthralled and not just women were wiping away the tears at the end. It's what A Civil Action should have been and I found it more powerful than Silkwood. Well done Julia and Albert!

Absolutely one of the best films I have seen.  Julia Roberts is superb. Albert Finney also deserves a good review. When the audience applause at the end of the movie, you know it's great.

I definitly liked this movie.  I think it was something different for Julia Roberts to do.  Ms. Roberts did a magnifcant job. This movie kept my attention throughout the whole movie.  It was very realistic.  GOOD JOB!!!

Julia Roberts gives the performance of her career in "Erin Brockovich," a stirring, transcendent tale of triumph over adversity, tenacity over complacency, and justice over corruption.  In her vivid portrayal of a struggling single mother and divorcee, Roberts deftly conveys the protagonist's untold layers of compassion and sensitivity - beneath the veil of raw language and a brittle core shaped by life's travails.  In a word, Roberts is staggering. I predict that, one year from now, the star of fluff pieces such as "Pretty Woman" and "Steel Magnolias" will be standing on the podium giving her Oscar acceptance speech.  And conferring credit where additional credit is due - to the heroine named Erin Brockovich who inspired the most enjoyable, kick-ass movie I've seen in decades.

I had just read "Barbarian Science" before seeing this movie and it is true...There is no substitute for brains, but everything imaginable has been tried in the desparate search for one...  Erin Brokovich will become a word of mouth mega-hit because it resonates with so many Americans.  Education has become an obsticle in the path of really intelligent people.  When one of them gets past this baracade and succeeds, we stand up and cheer!

score = 90
This movie made for a great date flick.  My girlfriend and I loved it.  Julie Roberts plays a wonderful role.  The movie was well written and very well acted.  The chemistry between Roberts and Finney was perfect.  I thoroughly enjoyed this movie.

score = 90
I found it to be funny and insightful and to be based on a true story only made it that much more rewarding

I think Eberts on drugs!   This is by far one of the best movies I have seen in years.  If your looking for a motivational film that makes people want to work together for the betterment of all this is it.  It also helps to show people who do not have an ivy league education, a big salary or a great life that all things are possible.  With effort, energy and a belief in yourself anything can happen!
