Anchor Bay Films announced today that they will be releasing Leland Orser’s writing and directorial feature debut Morning in select cities across the U.S. on September 27, 2013. Produced by Red Rover Films, Morning stars Emmy Award nominee Jeanne Tripplehorn (“Big Love”, “Criminal Minds” Grey Gardens, Basic Instinct, The Firm) and Orser (Taken, The Good German, Saving Private Ryan, 7even, “ER”) as a married couple reeling from the tragic death of their only child. Bill Clark, President of Anchor Bay Entertainment, made today’s announcement.
“As many of us are already familiar with Leland Orser’s impressive body of acting work, we are delighted to bring his writing and directorial debut to audiences,” said Clark. “Morning offers a unique and touching look at love and loss, and audiences are sure to connect with its compelling and timely story about the resilience of the human spirit.”
Alongside Tripplehorn and Orser, the film also features three-time Academy Award® nominee Laura Linney (“The Big C”, John Adams), Academy Award® nominee Elliott Gould (Contagion, “Ray Donovan”), Emmy Award® winner Kyle Chandler (“Friday Night Lights”, Argo, Zero Dark Thirty), and Emmy Award® nominee Jason Ritter (“Parenthood”).
In this “stunning” (Psychology Today) and “powerful” (San Francisco Chronicle) drama, grief becomes a private torment for both Alice (Tripplehorn) and Marc Monroe (Orser) that threatens to destroy their world. Driven dangerously apart by their unfathomable loss, they bravely fight their way back to each other in the hopes of finding the love they once knew. Morning is a devastating but ultimately beautiful and hopeful look at heartbreak and healing. It displays the strength of the human spirit to defy darkness and embrace the light of day.
