Following in the footsteps of the record-breaking Marvel Studios\u2019 release, \u201cMarvel\u2019s The Avengers,\u201d production on the highly anticipated release, Marvel\u2019s \u201cCaptain America: The Winter Soldier\u201d has commenced in Los Angeles, Calif., with production also including locations in Cleveland, Ohio, and Washington D.C. Directing the film is the team of Anthony and Joe Russo (\u201cWelcome to Collinwood\u201d) from a screenplay written by Christopher Markus (\u201cCaptain America: The First Avenger\u201d) & Stephen McFeely (\u201cCaptain America: The First Avenger\u201d). Marvel\u2019s \u201cCaptain America: The Winter Soldier\u201d returns Chris Evans (\u201cCaptain America: The First Avenger,\u201d \u201cMarvel\u2019s The Avengers\u201d) as the iconic Super Hero character Steve Rogers\/Captain America, along with Scarlett Johansson (\u201cMarvel\u2019s The Avengers,\u201d \u201cIron Man 2\u201d) as Black Widow and Samuel L. Jackson (\u201cMarvel\u2019s The Avengers,\u201d \u201cIron Man 2\u201d) as Nick Fury. In addition, film icon Robert Redford has joined the all-star cast as Agent Alexander Pierce, a senior leader within the S.H.I.E.L.D. organization. \u201cCaptain America: The Winter Soldier\u201d is set for release in the U.S. on April 4, 2014.<\/p>\n
\u201cCaptain America: The Winter Soldier\u201d will pick-up where \u201cMarvel\u2019s The Avengers\u201d left off, as Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and teams up with Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, D.C. <\/p>\n
Based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1941, Marvel\u2019s \u201cCaptain America: The Winter Soldier\u201d features an outstanding supporting cast that includes Sebastian Stan (\u201cCaptain America: The First Avenger,\u201d \u201cBlack Swan\u201d) as Bucky Barnes\/Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie (\u201cThe Hurt Locker,\u201d \u201cMillion Dollar Baby\u201d) as Sam Wilson\/Falcon, Cobie Smulders (\u201cMarvel\u2019s The Avengers,\u201d \u201cHow I Met Your Mother\u201d) as Agent Maria Hill, Frank Grillo (\u201cZero Dark Thirty\u201d) as Brock Rumlow and Georges St-Pierre (\u201cDeath Warrior\u201d) as Georges Batroc. Rounding out the talented cast are Hayley Atwell (\u201cCaptain America: The First Avenger\u201d) as Peggy Carter, Toby Jones (\u201cCaptain America: The First Avenger,\u201d \u201cThe Hunger Games\u201d) as Arnim Zola, Emily VanCamp (\u201cThe Ring 2,\u201d \u201cRevenge\u201d) as Agent 13 and Maximiliano Hern\u00e1ndez (\u201cMarvel\u2019s The Avengers,\u201d \u201cThor\u201d) as Agent Jasper Sitwell.<\/p>\n
Marvel Studios\u2019 President Kevin Feige is producing the film. Executive producers on the project include Alan Fine, Louis D\u2019Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo and Stan Lee. The creative production team on the film includes director of photography Trent Opaloch (\u201cElysium,\u201d \u201cDistrict 9\u201d), production designer Peter Wenham (\u201c21 Jump Street,\u201d \u201cFast Five\u201d), editors Jeffrey Ford, A.C.E. and Mary Jo Markey, A.C.E.
