Pictures\u2019 \u201cGrudge Match\u201d stars award-winning movie legends Oscar\u00ae winner Robert De Niro (\u201cRaging Bull,\u201d \u201cSilver Linings Playbook\u201d) and Oscar\u00ae nominee Sylvester Stallone (the \u201cRocky\u201d films, \u201cThe Expendables\u201d) as old boxing rivals who come out of retirement for one final match.  Peter Segal (\u201cGet Smart\u201d) directs the comedy.<\/p>\n<p>In \u201cGrudge Match,\u201d De Niro and Stallone play Billy \u201cThe Kid\u201d McDonnen and Henry \u201cRazor\u201d Sharp, two local Pittsburgh fighters whose fierce rivalry put them in the national spotlight.  Each had scored a victory against the other during their heyday, but in 1983, on the eve oftheir decisive third match, Razor suddenly announced his retirement, refusing to explain why but effectively delivering a knock-out punch to both their careers.  Thirty years later, boxing promoter Dante Slate Jr., seeing big dollar signs, makes them an offer they can\u2019t refuse: to re-enter the ring and settle the score once and for all.  <\/p>\n<p>But they may not have to wait that long: on their first encounter in decades, their long-festering feud erupts into an unintentionally hilarious melee that instantly goes viral.  The sudden social media frenzy transforms their local grudge match into a must-see HBO event.  Now, if they can just survive the training, they may actually live to fight again.<\/p>\n<p>The film also stars Kevin Hart (\u201cThink Like a Man\u201d) as Dante Slate Jr.; Oscar\u00ae winner Alan Arkin as Razor\u2019s former trainer, Louis\u201cLightning\u201d Conlon, who gets to put Razor through his paces again; and Oscar\u00ae winner Kim Basinger (\u201cL.A. Confidential\u201d) as Sally Rose, who was once the love of Razor\u2019s life.<\/p>\n<p>Rounding out the cast are Jon Bernthal (upcoming \u201cThe Wolf of Wall Street,\u201d TV\u2019s \u201cThe Walking Dead\u201d) as BJ, who becomes The Kid\u2019s instinctive but untested trainer; and young film newcomer Camden Gray (\u201cCalifornication\u201d).<\/p>\n<p>Segal is directing from a screenplay by Tim Kelleher and Rodney Rothman, story by Tim Kelleher.  The film is being produced by Bill Gerber (\u201cGran Torino\u201d), Mark Steven Johnson (\u201cGrumpy Old Men,\u201d \u201cGrumpier Old Men\u201d), Michael Ewing (\u201cGet Smart\u201d), Segal, and Ravi Mehta (\u201cThe Lucky One\u201d).  Jane Rosenthal and Kevin King-Templeton are serving as executive producers.<\/p>\n<p>Collaborating with Segal behind the scenes are: Academy Award\u00ae-winning cinematographer Dean Semler (\u201cDances With Wolves,\u201d \u201cApocalypto\u201d); production designer Wynn Thomas (\u201cCinderella Man\u201d); costume designer Mary Vogt (\u201cMen in Black 3\u201d); and editor William Kerr (\u201cBridesmaids\u201d).  Robert Sale, who was the technical advisor on \u201cRocky Balboa,\u201d is serving as the film\u2019s boxing consultant.  The music is by Trevor Rabin.<\/p>\n<p>Warner Bros. Pictures presents a Bill Gerber Production, a Callahan Filmworks Production, a Peter Segal film, \u201cGrudge Match.\u201d  The film opens December 25, 2013 and will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros.
