REVIEW: Prison Break: The Final Break
08/24/09
Prison Break is one of
those series that when someone hears what it is about they
wonder how they are going to made a full season out of this
one concept. However, it only took about three episodes of
season 1 to became totally hooked on a four year ordeal that
is now ending in a straight to DVD movie. Who could resist
the ingenuity of Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) who
each episode try to kept a step of head of the correction
officers at Fox Hill. Who would have thought that season 2
would be as good as the first and that characters like
Theodore 'T-Bag' Bagwell (Robert Knepper ) would be so
essential.
I know a lot of you out there didn't like season 3, but I
found the whole SONA business intriguing. The sad part of
this series comes in season 4 where the show took a drastic
change and re-wrote all the rules. Season 4 is the season
that should not had happened, but I never the less watched
the entire run. Season 4 ends with a leap four years in the
future leaving what happened in the last four years to be
told in a movie called: The Final Break.
In The Final Break, Michael and Sara Tancredi (Sarah Wayne
Callies ) are final married but the happiness does not last
long as she is arrested and charged with murder. Sara is
sent to an all women jail in Miami, Florida where her
changes of getting off are slim. The worst part is that
General Krantz (Leon Russom) who is on the men side of the
prison with Bagwell puts out a hit on Sara. And worst yet
Sara is pregnant. Without any options left, Michael and his
team do what they do best, break Sara out.
Don't expect the quality of this movie to be any better than
that of the typical TV Prision Break episodes. In fact these
episodes are really two separate episodes that where stiched
togeter to make this movie. The only reason I saw it, is
that I wanted some answers to the shocking ending to season
4. I can't say I'm wasn't satisfied, because I got my
answer, but I which the results would have been different.
For those who have seen the series, I would recommend you
check the movie out just to give yourself some closure. All
others, should probably stay way. The movie which is
available in Blu-ray comes in a single layer 25GB disk and
looks and sounds pretty darn good for a TV production.
However, the only special features are two deleted scenes
which are not worth seeing.
