Bridge to Terabithia |

Based on the popular Newbery Award-winning
novel, BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA is a fantasy/adventure story of
friendship, family and the power of imagination from the
producers of “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch
and the Wardrobe.” Jess Aarons (JOSH HUTCHERSON) is an
outsider at school and even in his own family. Jess has
trained all summer to become the fastest kid in his middle
school class, but his goal is unexpectedly thwarted by the
new girl in school, Leslie Burke (ANNASOPHIA ROBB), who
competes in the “boys only” race and wins.
Despite their awkward introduction, the two outsiders
quickly become best friends. Leslie loves to tell stories of
fantasy and magic. Jess loves to draw, but until he met
Leslie, it was something he kept to himself. Leslie opens a
new world of imagination for Jess. Together, they create the
secret kingdom of Terabithia, a magical place only
accessible by swinging on an old rope over a stream in the
woods near their homes. There, the friends rule the kingdom,
fight the Dark Master and his creatures and plot against the
school bullies. Thanks to his friendship with Leslie, Jess
is changed for good. Brimming with fantastical creatures,
palaces and beautiful forests, the world of Terabithia is
brought to life by the amazing Academy Award®-winning visual
effects wizards at Weta Digital (the “Lord of the Rings”
trilogy, “King Kong”).

I thought it was a fantastic movie, but
regretted taking my six-year-old to see
it. I'd also thought from the trailer
and advertising that it was a fantasy
movie. But he was devastated when the
girl .... and protested that she
shouldn't have .... because "she wasn't
a bad guy". He was still crying about it
hours later. As a movie, it's fantastic.
But it's not a kids' movie and that
should have been made clear. |

Man this movie was devastating. I
thought bambi was the saddest movie I'd
ever seen but this film takes the cake
so to speak. They really set you up for
an emotional hit, especially as it's a
kids film. Way too sad for the
kids....way too sad for the
adults....just way too sad in general.
And yes I agree the trailers set you up
for a never ending story/labyrinth type
vibe which it most definitely is not. |

I also feel the same way, much too sad
for very young children! I also agree
that the movie trailers missled us into
thinking it was going to be more of a
fantasy story with a load of special
effects. I thought the story and the
messages were great for the older age
group, but not for my son of 7 years
old! The audience should have been given
a clearer picture than was given. |

I felt that the previews were very
misleading for this movie. I was
expecting it to be more of a fairy tale,
discovery of " another realm" of some
sort... like Chronicles of Narnia or
something of that nature. However the
animation and fantasy seen in the
previews is all that is seen in the
movies. You see the best of the movie
just seeing the previews. This is a
story about a tragic loss of a friend,
its truely tragic.... some might
think its good with a lesson of valuing
life and friendship. However there
was a theater full of 3-6 year olds
because the previews were so
misleading... this was far too real, and
too tragic for any small children to
watch. They need to caution why the
rating is PG. As others are rated PG and
perfectly fine for small children -more
of a caution to trolls or things of that
nature but not the tragic loss of a
friend . I was litterally depressed and
fully regretted taking my 3 kids to
see this movie. The ranged in age 6-10.
WAY too sad! |

I completely agree that the previews are
very misleading. My ten year old son was
very upset when the girl ..... We looked
at each other and I thought 'This is a
Disney movie?'. You could feel the
uneasiness in the crowd during the movie
and some people actually got up and left
after the ...... event. They advertise
it like it is another Narnia movie when
it is far from it. I can't believe that
it is receiving so many good reviews. |

I rented the DVD expecting to see a
movie in which two kids enter another
world and instead I got a movie about
feelings and dealing with death?! I feel
like I'll never be able to trust Disney
again. Though normally they are a fine
company, this is by far the worst thing
they've ever done. I sincerely hope that
they are ashamed of themselves. |

I'm a 20 year old guy who happened to look in the TV Guide and find the film so thought 'why the hell not'. Thought it was a bit slow paced and uneasy towards the start but slowly got hooked. When tragedy struck, I found it unbelievable how realistically it was portrayed. I found it pretty sad myself so probably not best for more sensitive people. Not the saddest film in the world by far, but it's innocence, realism and tragedy made it very moving. Superb. |
