For those who do not know the story, The Aristocats takes
place in Paris, and it is a story of a high class Cat,
Duchess, her three kitties, an alley cat, O’Malley, a greedy
Butler, and Duchess’s owner Madame Adelaide. When Madame
Adelaide decides to leave all her fortune to her cat,
Duchess and her kitties, she made a clause stating that if
anything were to happen to her precious cats, then it will
be her Butler Edgar the one who inherits her fortune. Edgar
overhears this and decides to take action, he catnaps
duchess and her kitties and dump in in the outsides of
Paris. Duchess come across an alley cat by the name of
Thomas O’Malley and the fun begins with an adventure to get
back to Madame Adelaide, while meeting interesting and
captivating characters along the way.
The movie is fantastic, the story is kept simple but
interesting the characters are charming, attractive and fun.
Each one of them have their unique characteristics that
makes the audience fall in love with every single one of
them. Now I have the old VHS tape of the movie and what
Disney did with the visual is totally amazing the colors are
brighter, the sound is louder and clearer the whole movie
experience changes completely. It felt just like when I was
a kid sitting in the theater watching it for the first time.
The movie is accurate on the time, it depicts the life and
culture of the 1910s, with a sophisticated cat knowledgeable
of the different arts, and a charming lower class alley cat,
using a more street folklore of the time; the only original
American truth form of art: Jazz. The music is incredible
the songs are well written and executed, and with the new
digitally mastered sounds amazing.
The Aristocats is and will remain a classic in animation. It
is one of Disney’s more elaborated movies, it portrays
family values, human emotions, and, social and cultural
aspects that are still valid today, while it entertain us.
This DVD is well designed and full of extras for any kind of
