The Catherine
Deneuve 5-Film Collection, part of Lionsgate’s The Celebrity
Series - a compilation of films featuring world-renowned
film stars - debuts this June. Academy Award® nominee
Catherine Deneuve (Indochine) is one of the most alluring
and talented actresses of the silver screen, starring in
films such as Belle de Jour, Dancer in the Dark, 8 femmes,
Mississippi Mermaid and The Young Girls of Rochefort. This
unique compilation features five of Deneuve’s most memorable
classic films, which have never before been released on DVD
including Le Sauvage and Hôtel des Amériques, for which
Deneuve received César Award nominations, as well as Manon
70, Le Choc and Fort Saganne. A must-have for any film fan,
the Witless Protection-Film Collection will be presented in
limited edition, collectible packaging and made available on
June 10, 2008
Manon 70 Synopsis:
The immortal
story of the beautiful Manon, an amoral free spirit who,
although she loves the tolerant De Grieux, takes many lovers
to satisfy her thirst for luxury.
Le Sauvage Synopsis:
A young
bride, Nelly, gets cold feet and flees the altar with her
irate groom in hot pursuit. She carries with her a priceless
stolen painting, fleeing into the hotel room of a perfume
maker who has left his marriage and his failing business and
now lives on a deserted island. She convinces him to take
her home with him, but he soon finds his peace and
tranquility further disrupted when her fiancé, his wife and
his board of directors track him down. Le Sauvage received
four César Award nominations, including Best Actress
(Catherine Deneuve), Best Cinematography, Best Director and
Best Editing.
Hôtel des Amériques Synopsis:
Hélène, a
distracted pill-popping anesthetist, almost runs down Gilles
one evening on a Biarritz street. Gilles instantly falls in
love, but Hélène is still reeling from the drowning death of
her lover, a visionary architect. Gilles presses for a
relationship, then backs away, deciding she could never love
someone of his lower class and limited prospects. To his
delight, Hélène does fall in love with him and gradually her
depression eases. However, as she heals, he becomes obsessed
with her ex lover’s talents and feels unable to compete due
to his own limitations. His insecurities and bizarre
behavior threatens their new found relationship. Hôtel des
Amériques received César Award nominations for Best Actress
(Catherine Deneuve) and Best Supporting Actress (Saubine
Haudepin).
Le Choc
Synopsis:
After ten
years of faithful service, a hired killer decides to go
straight and live in the country. But those in charge want
to assassinate one more person - a visiting Arab leader.
Could the assignment be a set-up?
Fort
Saganne Synopsis:
Young
lieutenant Charles Saganne leaves France for a life of
adventure in the Sahara in 1911. He falls in love with the
young and pretty Madeleine. Then, under orders from Colonel
Dubreuilh, he is gloriously honored for his service in the
southern part of the Sahara. Charles is sent on a mission to
Paris, where he has a brief affair with the novelist Louise
Tissot before returning to Madeleine and the desert to try
to bring peace. Fort Saganne received César Award
nominations for Best Actor (Gerard Depardieu), Best
Cinematography, Best Costume Design and Best Sound.
