Desperate Housewives (Season 3)

09/07/07

There is no doubt that
"Desperate Housewives" has been one of the shows that put
ABC back at the top in primetime television. After record
breaking ratings in season one, the show had a little drop
back in season two. The main reason for the drop back was
the poor story line. For the third season the show took a
breath of fresh air and brought back the essence of season
one plus more refreshing surprises, getting people to talk
again.
Besides answering some of the open questions left from
season two, the first episode didn’t meet expectations. The
idea of getting Susan (Teri Hatcher) involved in another
relationship, converted Susan’s character in one of the
least attractive in the show. The love triangle between
Susan, Mike (James Denton) and Ian (Dougray Scott) was most
of the time boring and annoying. Giving the show a slow
start. It is in the second episode where the show picks up
some steam. The mystery kept growing with Orsen (Kyle
MacLachlan) as he is getting ready to marry Bree (Marcia
Cross). Another positive aspect, was the fact that the
melodrama in the relationship created in season two between
Bree and her son Andrew (Shawn Pyfrom) finally gets
resolved.
Most of the funny and clever episodes were those involving
Carlos (Ricardo Chavira) and Gabrielle (Eva Longoria) ,
making these characters the favorites of the season. The
situations created by their divorce gave the series a new
look and brought back the comedy and the irony missing in
season two. The big decision made by Tom(Doug Savant),
changed his family life putting Lynette (Felicity
Huffman) in a desperation mode. This was a good example on
how life can change when big decisions are made.
Meanwhile in the search for a good companion and without
knowing what she wants in her life, Edie (Nicollette
Sheridan) gives us a couple of surprises that only Edie
knows how to do.
All the changes and mysteries
in the personal lives of the residents at Wisteria Lane
merge together into a surprising season finale full of
gossip, betrayal, and controversy that will keep its
audience anxiously awaiting season four.
