REVIEW:
After the big success of "High
School Musical", which many people call the new Grease
phenomenon. The Disney channel didn't waited long for the
sequel. High School Musical 2 premiered on the Disney
channel on August 17, 2007 with 17.2 millions viewers,
making it the most watched cable telecast of all time.
Proofing once again that Disney knows how to keep a
franchise going.
Director and choreographer Kenny Ortega and writer Peter
Barsocchini managed to connect the two films brilliantly by
making used of probably the things that teenagers loved the
most; summer vacation, music and dance. The entire opening
sequence for this film is full of energy , good choreography
and contagious music, giving teens enough energy to watch
the entire movie without any problem.
In general the story is simple, but effective for its target
audience. The combination of contagious music, good
choreography and a popular cast, paid big dividends for this
movie. The music is outstanding in this sequel which doesn't
allow room to think that the success for this movie
can be attributed to Eric Zafron. Taking into
consideration the popularity he gained from the first movie
and most recently with his performance in Hairspray.
He definitely developed a strong fan base among teen girls.
In addition, one point that has to be mentioned was the fact
that Kenny Ortega and Peter Barsocchini gave the
chance to other members of the cast like Ashley
Tisdale and Lucas Grabeel to show their talent.
Overall the film meets it
goal, continuing with the success of the franchise and
setting a strong ground for High School Musical 3 in the big
screen.

School Musical 2 Extended Edition" contains the bonus
