REVIEW: MAMMA MIA
2 Disc Special Edition

12/16/08

SYNOPSIS: An
independent, single mother who owns a small hotel on an
idyllic Greek island, Donna (Meryl Streep) is about to let
go of Sophie (Amanda Seyfried), the spirited daughter she’s
raised alone. For Sophie’s wedding, Donna has invited her
two lifelong best girlfriends—practical and no-nonsense
Rosie (Julie Walters) and wealthy, multi-divorcee Tanya
(Christine Baranski)—from her one-time backing band, Donna
and the Dynamos. But Sophie has secretly invited three
guests of her own. On a quest to find the identity of her
father to walk her down the aisle, she brings back three men
from Donna’s past to the Mediterranean paradise they visited
20 years earlier. Over 24 chaotic, magical hours, new love
will bloom and old romances will be rekindled on this lush
island full of possibilities. Inspired by the storytelling
magic of ABBA’s hit songs from “Dancing Queen” and “S.O.S.”
to “Money, Money, Money” and “Take a Chance on Me,” Mamma
Mia! The Movie is a celebration of mothers and daughters,
old friends and new family found.
DVD: The 2 Disc Special Edition
will be available
for limited time only with a digital copy. I think the
DVD fells short in special features category , it
doesn't contain many appealing features to say that it
is a must have. The only one that I found worth watching
was "The Making of Mamma Mia!", a 24 minutes documentary
that give viewers an in-depth look into the creation of
Mamma Mia! The Movie. Probably the best feature is the
onscreen lyrics that allows viewers to sing along to the
film's 19 songs. As well as to play the film with the
onscreen lyrics. I would only recommend this 2 Disc
Special Edition DVD to those that interesting in getting
a digital copy of the film, otherwise it is just enough
to get the single disc edition which contains the film
and the onscreen lyrics feature. Overall Mamma Mia in
DVD will be a great gift this Holiday season
