OCTOBER ROAD (SEASON
TWO)

05/04/09

SYNOPSIS: The last time writer Nick Garrett (Bryan Greenberg) left his
hometown of Knight’s Ridge, he promised his
high school girlfriend, Hannah Daniels (Laura Prepon), he
would be back in six weeks. Ten years later,
he finally returns to and discovers life in the Ridge has
moved on without him. Hannah is a single mom,
raising a bright and articulate nine-year-old son, Sam, and
dating Nick’s high school nemesis, and the
men Nick once thought of as his closest friends have grown
older, and even grown up. In the complete
second season of this acclaimed ABC television series, Nick
stays on in Knight’s Ridge to repair his
relationships with family and friends, explore his budding
romance with Aubrey (Odette Yustman), and satisfy his
suspicion that Hannah’s son Sam may be his son.
REVIEW: After
getting decent TV ratings in its first short season,
"October Road" returned for a second season on ABC on
November 22, 2008, however this time around the show got out
of the shadows of "Grey's Anatomy" hopping to become part of
ABC's main lineup. Unfortunately for the series creators and
fans, the TV show was not able to gain or retain most of it
viewers forcing ABC to cut the season short to only 13
episodes. On May 5, 2008 Buena Vista Home Entertainment will
be releasing "October Road" the complete second season on
DVD. The DVD includes the second season's 13 aired episodes
and a 15 minutes series wrap-up exclusive to the DVD that
will give fans something to celebrate.
The second season continues just were first season ended
with Nick Garrett (Bryan Greenberg) and Eddie Latekka (Geoff
Stults) driving to New York to search for their friend Owen
and with Hannah Daniels (Laura Prepon) in her dilemma of
what do to after Nick's declaration of love. The first two
episodes of the second season brought back the intensity and
the enjoyment of its first season. Bryan Greenberg (One Tree
Hill) and Laura Prepon (That 70’s Show) kept displaying
their on screen chemistry as well as their individual
performance. The same can be say for the rest of the cast
and the mix of soft rock and soft country music between
scenes that the series unique.
By the third episode "October
Road" just went down hill. The show when away from its main
story as soon as Hannah rejected Nick for the third time and
started to focus more in other characters, which in a way
was okay. The problem for me was that by doing that , some
of the characters became annoying. This is the case of Owen,
who just began to act goofy as a consequence of his wife's
infidelity, taking away some of the reality of the show. And
to make things worst he was almost in every episode.
October Road had a chance to
be good and it show spark of a good drama, but in the same
way it just got stock in the same place.
In terms of special features
the DVD includes a 15 minutes series wrap-up that is not
even surprising, however at least pleases some the series
fans.
