PIRATES
OF THE CARIBBEAN 3:
(At World's End)
2 Disc Limited Edition

11/30/07

SYNOPSIS:
Just when he’s needed most,
Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), that witty and wily
charmer of a pirate, is trapped on a sea of sand in Davy
Jones’ Locker. In an increasingly shaky alliance, Will
Turner (Orlando Bloom), Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley)
and Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) begin a desperate quest
to find and rescue him. Captain Jack’s the last of the nine
Pirate Lords of the Brethren Court who must come together
united in one last stand to preserve the freedom-loving
pirates’ way of life. From exotic Singapore , to World’s End
and beyond, from Shipwreck Island , to a titanic battle,
this adventure’s filled with over-the-edge action,
irreverent humor and seafaring myth and magic. Everything
has led to this twisting, turning, wild swashbuckling ride
in this final chapter of the Pirates Of The Caribbean
trilogy.
REVIEW:
The year 2007 will be remember
as the year that saw more than ten movie sequels being
released in the theaters. One of these sequels was
"Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End", which was
probably the most anticipated sequel of the year. The third
installment of the biggest movie franchise based on a theme park
ride is set to be released on December 4, 2007 with a two disc
limited edition that will put a smile in its millions of
fans around the world.
"Pirates Of The Caribbean: At
World's End" is a visual extravagance full of adrenaline and
adventure to conclude one of the best trilogy in recent
years. Fans of the franchise can feel well served with this
film, since it doesn't leave them hanging for one more year
and at the same time adds the action that was missing in the
previous film.
The cast continues to provide
a solid performance all leaded by Johnny Depp who probably
has immortalized his character for ages to come. Orlando
Bloom and Keira Knightley's
performance are still a
highlight as before. The casting of Chow Yun-Fat as Captain Sao Feng was
right on the money, he is perfect for this role. After watching the film it very hard to
imagine another actor in this role. Also it was nice to see
the living legend Keith Richards playing Jack's brother.
In addition, this
limited edition DVD contains a nice special feature covering
every single detail from scene between Keith Richards and
Johnny Depp.
The film gets most of its
credit for its action scenes and special effects, since the
main story was well developed in the previous film. So the
question is; how does this film compares to its predecessors?
Screenplay lovers will claim that "Dead Man's Chest"
is better. On the other hand action lovers will claim "At
World's End" is the better of the two. But these two
films have to be seen as a complement of each other, which makes
"Pirates of Caribbean" the second best trilogy right behind
the "Lord of The Rings". In order to appreciate the
value of the two films, it is highly recommended to watch
these films back to back.
Even thought the two disc
limited edition DVD is loaded with outstanding features,
some of the fans will be disappointed. The DVD
doesn't have directors or cast commentaries, which would have made this DVD a complete edition.
