                    SYNOPSIS: A
suspenseful horror film! An obsessed murderer is viciously
hunting down a beautiful girl on her prom night, killing
anyone who gets in his way.

REVIEW: Going to the prom is every
student dream while in high school. The girls get excited
and want to know what guy will ask her to the prom. The guys
get excited, because they want to get wild and cut loose.
Every student is trying to impress each other with a big
opening approach, but there’s only one thing that matters
the most: The big event of who will be the king and queen of
the senior prom. In the movie “Prom Night,” they take you to
a place where the prom is not your ordinary prom but one to
die for. A girl name Donna who’s trying to forget about her
horrible past and not let it spoil the events that had
happened ruin the night she’s been waiting for. Donna and
her friends arrive to the ballroom were the fun just begun,
but only when she think her past will slowly fade away and
there is nothing else to worry about she will soon discover
the terror of her past has once again set out to find her
                    and finish what was started.

As I watched this movie, I could not help myself wonder
where did it go wrong? The movie begins with an interesting
opening, but the illusion last no more than 10 minutes,
after that everything develops in a slow and predictable
manner that makes the audience loose interest in the film.
The way the story was lay out is probably the cause for this
movie to fail in scare and keep the audience interested. For
some reason, as it develops, it begins to look like a teen
movie, but without any comical or spicy occurrence. The few
attempts to scarred or surprised the audience are just too
cheap and foreseeable, it is full with overused settings and
situations that the audience will know what is coming
minutes before it actually is shown. Character wise is also
disappointed, all the characters were to simple and dry that
it is hard to actually like anyone of them, Donna’s
personality is just pathetic looking more as a middle school
teenager than a High school Senior, all her actions and
characteristics were not amusing to me and as far as I
concern, I could care less about her, as for the Obsessed
predator, Richard Fenton , he was not as bad as the main
character but nevertheless he was not convincing enough in
his actions to impressed me. Sometimes in the movie it seems
as he has powers since he disappears quickly from a placed
that there is no place to hide or run away from, finally
detective Winn who is suppose to be the hero spends more of
his time behind a curtain just watching little girls dance,
making him looked monotonous. As for the supporting
characters they are just there to fill and extend more the
                    movie as expendable characters.

The acting was to plain, all the actors performance were
dries and uninspiring. It seems as they were not feeling
their character. Even Idris Elba, who I considered a great
actor disappointed me in this one, he just did not look like
a cop, and his expressions were not convincing, and Brittany
Snow, who’s performance in John Tucker Must die is fairly
entertaining, did not managed to captivate my attention in
this one, even though she performed a similar character.
Even I did not see this movie in the theater, which I am
glad, the unrated edition does not seem to have any shocking
and interesting footage. There are many teen horror movies,
that managed to be entertaining or surprisingly amusing to
the audience, even there are movies that show the same
overused material many fans are accustomed to see in this
type of movies and leaves them satisfied. For some reason
this movie is neither. The DVD cover is quite persuasive,
showing and image that might fool or attract many fans, I
would like to say that I did not see this image or nothing
similar in the movie. With a pointless story, dry
characters, and poor acting, I do not recommend this movie
to anyone, since it does not have anything worth seeing.

                    SPECIAL FEATURES: After
watching the film, I doubt anyone would like to continue
exploring the DVD, and even if that happens the DVD does not
offer any feature worth seen, not even the alternate ending,
or deleted scenes are stimulating enough.
