TALESPIN (SEASON
1)

11/12/07

Disney’s favorites bear is
back. Now in the released of the second volume of the
successful 90s TV show Talespin. Talespin was originally
released in 1991, as a half an hour show, in the in the two
hour syndicated Show the Disney Afternoon it lasted 65
episodes. Talespin was nominated for an emmy Award for
Outstanding Animated program in 1994, the same year it was
finished. Reruns of the series are still playing overseas.
Volume two includes some of the most fun episodes of the
whole series.
In a place called Cape Suzzete the fun never ends when you
have Baloo (The Jungle Book) working delivering cargo in his
plane “The Flying Duck,” for Rebecca Cunningham and his
company “Higher for Hire.” In the series Baloo plays the
same Role as in his original movie, the Jungle Book, lazy,
free spirited, loyal, and carefree bear, who is in charge of
a minor, Kit Cloudkicker, the only difference is that he is
an excellent pilot now. Each delivery turns out to be more
complicated that it really is, but Balloo and his friends
make it an enjoyable, exciting, and incredible adventure.
Whether it be a flying in a contest or getting out of
predicaments like air pirates they are always there for each
other.
The characters in the series are colorful , ell animated,
original and entertaining. Baloo’s characters is a role
model for Kit, but in most of the cases it is Kit the one
who teaches Baloo important lessons such as the value of
hard work and the importance of friendship. Kit is the
classical child whos hero is Baloo. He resembles Mowgli
since he admires Baloo and he is the accomplice for many of
his tricks. Rebecca is the Adult and mature person of the
group. The good part about this volume is that it focuses a
bit more in the secondary characters like Loui (Jumgle
Book), Molly and my personal favorite Wild Cat, the
companies mechanic who is one of the funniest, making the
episodes more amusing, and entertaining . The classical
villains for the series are back like successful tycoon
Tiger Shere Khan(Jumgle Book), and air pirate Don Karnage
and its gang, and new refreshing villains like the pandas
from Panda La.
Talespin episodes in this volume are independent from each
other which gives the audience freedom to pick what to
watch. There is only one episode that continue to the next.
Each one is original, and some of them are based on
classical movies like Indiana Jones and Riders of the lost
Ark (Baloo Switcheroo & Waiders Of The Wost Tweasure). Each
episode also tries to teach some important values like hard
work, friendship, team work, and telling the truth.
The video and sound on the DVD is digitally master and looks
and sound really good, the presentation is also really good
since it comes with a nice cover. As many Disney DVDs based
on TV show this series does not have any special features.
Nevertheless, Talespin Volume 2 is more fun, and enjoyable
than the first one. The adventures are smarter and better
elaborate. Each episode will leave you asking for more. They
provide tons of entertainment and is packed with lots of
laughs for fans of all ages, making Talespin a good gift for
the Holydays.
