REVIEW: THE BANK JOB
07/13/08
One of the most
critically-acclaimed films of year arrives on DVD this July
when Lionsgate releases The Bank Job in three different
versions. Directed by Roger Donaldson (Thirteen Days) and
from the award-winning writing team of Dick Clement & Ian La
Frenais (Across the Universe), The Bank Job is based on the
true story of a heist gone wrong...in all the right ways. A
hit at the box office, the film made a huge impact among
critics. Rolling Stone declares it “full of
surprises…crackling suspense…a real heist that literally did
shake the Empire,” Access Hollywood proclaims it “smart,
gritty, completely engrossing and totally entertaining…the
best movie of the year so far,” and Life & Style Weekly
raves that “this thriller is worth the investment…it’s an
exciting and unpredictable ride.” The Bank Job: 2-Disc
Special Edition DVD is loaded with thrilling bonus features
including featurettes and extended scenes plus both come
with a standard-definition digital copy of the feature film.
The single-disc DVD will include a Widescreen and Full
Screen version of the film. All three heart-pounding
releases will be available on July 15, 2008.
Terry (Jason Statham), a car dealer with a dodgy past and
new family, has always avoided major-league scams. However,
when Martine (Saffron Burrows), a beautiful model from his
old neighborhood, offers him a lead on a foolproof bank hit
on London’s Baker Street, Terry recognizes it as the
opportunity of a lifetime. Martine targets a room full of
safe deposit boxes worth millions in cash and jewelry. What
Terry and his crew don’t realize is that the boxes also
contain a treasure trove of dirty secrets – secrets that
will thrust them into a deadly web of corruption and illicit
scandal that spans London’s criminal underworld, the highest
echelons of the British government and the Royal family
itself.
