Tiny Toons (Volume
1)

07/29/08

They're tiny, their toony, and
their all a little Looney. Tiny Toons Adventures was one of
the most popular cartoons in the 1990's, it was an attempt
from Warner Brothers to get back in the animation market
since their most successful animated achievement: The Loony
Tunes. At a first glance, the show looks like a younger
version of the Loony Tunes, with ’younger character”
resemble the classical version, but as the show progresses
each character comes to live in their own, adding their own
personality to the classical jokes. The show features
appearances of your favorite Loony Tunes characters such as:
Taz the Tasmanian Devil, Sylvester the Cat, and of course
Bugs Bunny trying to passed their comical knowledge to this
new generation in the prestigious ACME Looniversity, For
instance with Professor Bugs you’ll learn how to outsmart
someone or with Professor Elmer Fudd you’ll learn how to
setup a booby trap. The Show had an instant success it was
aired almost a decad. With its 98 episodes, It brought
Warner brothers backs to the animation business by opening
the doors to a new generation of WB characters such as The
Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain and Freakazoid. The series
is just lots of fun, and it is full of comedy for every kind
of audience. Its first volume, including the first
35episodes, will be available on July 29, 2008, and let me
tell you it still as funny and entertaining as 15 years ago.
The first volume you could say its an introduction to the
series, in the first episodes the audience will learned
about the origin and characteristics of the characters. At
first view the audience might think is just one of those
“Babies” shows that were so common in the 90s like the
Little Flinstones or Muppet babies, repeating the same old
jokes and episode versions from previous cartoons, but as we
advance in episodes the shows develops an identity of their
own, the jokes become smarter, newer and funnier. The show
not only uses the old anvil, exploiting cakes, and safes,
but also introduce new jokes by mocking celebrities, events
of that time, TV shows, and movies, like Indiana Jones, Star
Wars, The Wizard of Oz, and Journey to the Center of the
Earth. In Tiny Toons, the setting also plays a key role,
every takes place in Acme Acres, which tends to play a key
role in each cartoon and character, and Acme Looniversity,
where the characters will earn their toon degree, is very
appealing to the audience, since episodes taking place there
resemble to problems related to kids in school, like peer
pressure, cheating, and bullying only in a funny and over
exaggerated way. Another aspect that I found amusing is that
their teachers, the Looney Tunes, while trying to teach them
the insanely funny stuff, also play an adult role of
restricting them and educating them.
The characters Buster and Babs Bunny (no relation), plucky
Duck, Hampton J Pig and many others resemble to their
mentors, in looks and style, nonetheless their style is
unique and although many jokes and traits are very close to
them the audience wont see them as mini versions of the
originals but as original characters in their own, as matter
of fact, as their look might attract fans from the loony
tunes, the opposite could also be achieve, fans from this
contemporary version who do not know much of the Loony Tunes
might be attracted to check them out. All of them are well
designed, voice, acted and for a cartoon that is almost 18
years old they are well animated. The soundtrack although
not as great as Disney’s shows also delivers its part.
The characters in Tiny Toon Adventure make you feel like a
kid again. Each episode is full of energy, excitement and
laughs. The interaction between Buster and Babs is what
makes this cartoon a success. Steven Spielberg and his crew
did an outstanding job bringing to live these charismatic
characters and funny stories and turning it into a hit show.
The four disc DVD is almost 13 hours of pure fun. The DVD is
a great addition for fans of the Loony Tunes and Cartoons
such as Animaniacs, Tiny Toons , and Pinky on the Brain.

SPECIAL
FEATURES: The DVD Set does not contain that many Special
features, but considering that it last almost 13 hours, I
could forgive that. Nonetheless it has a great feature which
tells the evolution of these crazy cartoons.
From
Looney Tunes to Tiny Toons - A Wacky Evolution! :
the only feature of the DVD. It is a great featurete
narrating the story and evolution of Warner Brothers

was made. (23:36)
