Up In Smoke

With a sub total of
approximately forty one million dollars in the box office (a lot of money for a comedy in the 70s) and more than 28
millions dollars in rentals, makes "Up In Smoke" a 70s
movie classic. Before the movie, the duo of Cheech (Cheech
Martin) and Chong (Tommy Chong) was at the top of their
careers as stand up comedians, but it was the film "Up In
Smoke" that placed them in a road of classic characters in
entertainment. Now in to celebrate the 30th anniversary of
this film, Paramount Home Entertainment has released "Up In
Smoke Collectors Edition", which is by far the best version
so far.
"Up In Smoke" is set
in 1978
and tells the story of (Pedro De Pacas) who is a total loser
and only thinks of smoking weed. One morning Pedro meets
Anthony "man" Stoner (Tommy Chong) who thinks that
getting high is more important than food. After a few weeks
together the duo find themselves without any weed to smoke.
The LA police is closing must of the local supply. As a
result, Pedro tells Anthony to go to Mexico to get some pot.
The adventure begins when these two stoners try to get a
van full of marihuana across the border.
Without having the greatest
story line, but having an icon duo of the 70s, "Up In Smoke"
will always be a classic comedy. Nobody can say that they
learned something by watching this film, yet just the name
of the film brings a smile to many. Cheech and Chong's
brainless attempt at becoming a pothead and their adventures
only bring unstoppable laughter putting them as one of the
best duos in comedy of the 70S. Even 30 years later
the film is still as funny as it was in it's theatrical
release date.
