Fantastic Four 2: Rise of The Silver Surfer
06/14/07

The Fantastic 4
are back! Yes, they’re back and they did it. Not only
did they save the planet, they saved their franchise. Rise
of the
Silver Surfer did for the 4 as Ocean’s 13 did for Ocean’s
12. It’s not the
best superhero movie ever, but it is much better than the
first. The
actors’ performances were more genuine. Julian McMahon
(Doctor Doom), however, did not seem as menacing this time
around. It was all about the Silver Surfer. This man from
another world was incredibly intriguing and having him
voiced by Laurence Fishburne was icing on the cake.
The Silver Surfer is sent to Earth to prepare it for total
destruction,
or is it consumption? It up to Marvel’s first family of
superheroes to
figure out who he is, why he is doing it, and of course stop
him from
accomplishing it. This, however, interrupts the long awaited
wedding
between Sue, the Invisible Woman (Jessica Alba), and Reed,
Mr. Fantastic (Ioan Gruffudd). The whole wedding planning
and ceremony thing was a little cheesy and lengthy, but it
does add a refreshing human side to the characters that we
can relate to. Overall, the story line was much more
involving and grand this time, thank goodness. I was truly
routing for this to be new and improved, being a major
superhero movie fan myself. The special effects were
awesome. They always get a little better, a little more
crisp than their predecessors. I didn’t want to blink during
a particular scene where Johnny, the Human Torch (Chris
Evans) is chasing the intergalactic herald. It had me
on the edge of my seat. Way cool! Flame on, Torch, flame on.
Being what I consider an “average Joe Moviewatcher Guy”, I
like to rate
movies based on such criteria as “was it entertaining?“ and
“would I
want to see it again?” or “would I buy the DVD?”. Well, in
this case, it
is a resounding YES to all of the above in the strong, deep
voice of
Ben, the Thing (Michael Chiklis). Director Tim Story did a
great job
accomplishing something not very common: a sequel surpassing
the first.
“It’s
Clobbertime!”

Well, I saw this and all I can say is
"WOW" Jessica Alba was HOT!!!!! (Espically
when she "got" The Human Torch's flame)
To me, the movie had
the right blend of comedy and action.
And with the Silver Surfer's voice
played by Laurence Fishburne. Nicely
done! |

Absolutely terrible. The acting ....
majorly, and the storyline was weak.
Stop trying to bring comic books to the
cinema.. its insulting when you make it
into a terrible movie with terrible
actors. |
