Gravitas Ventures has secured worldwide Video On Demand rights to “Almost Adults” from director Sarah Rotella and writer Adrianna DiLonardo. Rotella and DiLonardo are the power duo behind the popular YouTube channel “Unsolicited Project” otherwise known as “The Gay Women Channel”, which boasts almost 350,000 subscribers and over 85 million views.

The feature film raised over 300% of its Kickstarter goal and earned 1.5M views of their trailer on YouTube. It will premiere on Saturday at the Austin Film Festival and arrives to VOD in February 2017.

“Almost Adults” follows two best friends in their final year of college while they transition into adulthood. Mackenzie (Elise Bauman) embraces her sexuality and tries to catch up on everything she has missed during her teenage years, while Cassie (Natasha Negovanlis) ends a long term relationship with her boyfriend and discovers her life isn’t going as planned. Suddenly the BFFs are struggling to keep their friendship together as they are confronted with the very adult proposition of growing apart.

Negovanlis and Bauman have electric chemistry on screen; the pair also co-stars in KindaTV’s web series “Carmila.”

Sarah Rotella and Adrianna DiLonardo shared, “We are so excited that Almost Adults has found a home with Gravitas Ventures and we are eager to finally share the film!”

“We’re proud to align with such trailblazing filmmakers as Sarah, Adrianna, and Rebecca,” said Rachel Koehler, Manager of Acquisitions for Gravitas Ventures, “and we look forward to bringing this honest and compelling film to audiences.”

Rotella’s previous directing efforts have garnered 85+ million YouTube views and her films have been screened in 85 international film festivals including the Toronto International Film Festival, Outfest Los Angeles, and in a Master Class with director Tim Burton. “Almost Adults” is Producer Rebecca Swift’s first live-action feature film. She previously managed animation productions including Ice Age: The Great Egg-Scapade (Blue Sky Studios), Lost In Oz (Amazon) and projects for DisneyToon Studios and Dreamworks. Writer Adrianna DiLonardo’s previous credits consist of feature films, web series, viral videos, and even an organic trending hashtag on Twitter. Her videos have garnered over 85+ million views on YouTube and played in film festivals around the world. She is the head writer for YouTube’s Unsolicited Project, with over 350,000 subscribers.

The deal was negotiated by Rachel Koehler for Gravitas and Producer Rebecca Swift on behalf of the filmmaking team.
