Miracle at St. Anna |

Directed by Spike Lee from a screenplay
written by James McBride, the author of the acclaimed novel
of the same name, the film chronicles the story of four
African-American soldiers who are members of the U.S. Army
as part of the all-black 92nd Buffalo Soldier Division
stationed in Tuscany, Italy, during World War II. They
experience the tragedy and triumph of the war as they find
themselves trapped behind enemy lines and separated from
their unit after one of them risks his life to save an
Italian boy. MIRACLE AT ST. ANNA explores a deeply inspiring
story that transcends national boundaries, race and class to
touch the goodness within us all.

l personally do not care for most of
Sjpike Lee's films. Infact, I do not
know why so many believe his movies are
so inspirational, thought provoking and
reflect what society is all about here
in America. Yet, Miracle at St. Anna's
has a lot of dept. The characters played
their parts very well. Good story and
excellent plot helped to move this to
long picture along. The script brings to
life the awful treatment of the the
black soldiers by their white commanders
and the majority of white Americans.
The reason this movie receives a 9.0
rating from me is due to Mr. Lee
transferring the attitudes, sayings and
actions of a small segment of todays
African American community on the noble
and more honorable African
American soldiers of the pass.
Furthermore, several scenes should have
been edited out...the Italy lady
flashing her breast as she washes and
hanging clothes, etc.
The young boy who received the Miracle
of St. Anna's was brillant! Oh, how I
hope that he receives some nomimation.
Also, the "Gentle Giant" performed
spiritually by Omar should be
acknowledged also. Being a "Historian" I
was aware and am very sensative to the
plight of the "Buffalo Soldiers". Not
only during this campaign but through
World War I to the present day.
The film displayed compassion on all
sides of the war plus the most evil and
vile conduct by man with salt sprinked
in the wounds. Please view this picture
for youself.
