When I first heard that the team that created one of my favorite movies, V for Vendetta, was coming together to create a Ninja movie, I was ecstatic. Imagine, that the brains behind this movie also created the greats movie of the 20th century: The Matrix. In my mind, Ninja
Assassin would be awesome. However, this is not the case. The reality is that Ninja
Assassin is boring. Yes boring. How could a ninja movie be boring. I don't know, but some how Director James McTeigue and producers Andy Wachowski and Larry Wachowski and lets not forget producer Joel Silver managed to create a boring Ninja movie.
In Ninja Assassin, Raizo (Rain) is the Ninja that decides to leave the clan because they no longer fit his moral code. The Ninja clan is make up of children the are stolen from their parent and trained as Ninjas. The Ninjas are used as hit man for hire to make money all over the world. Raizo now fights against the Ninjas and hopes to one day put a stop to them and their leader a man who they call Father.
While this movie has a lot of fighting, the fighting is shot with a hyper fast moving camera making it hard to follow the action. But what really does this film in, is the lack of story. The story is paper thin and told in such a way that leads to very little excitement. For those who like blood the movie does have an inventive way of spraying the substances. This however was not enough to save the movie. The only good think about the movie were the opening scenes, Raizo training scene in this apartment and the conflict between Raizo and the man he calls father. Every other supporting actor was not very well written nor acted. Hopefully one day we'll get our Ninja movie, until that day we're stuck watching our copies of American Ninja.
