Return to Me:  Friday April 7, 2000

Return To Me is an endearing romantic comedy infused with real life humor, starring David Duchovny and Minnie Driver. Life can change in an instant and it does for our two lead characters. A lonely Bob Rueland (David Duchovny) is embraced by Grace Briggs (Minnie Driver), who is surrounded by a coterie of substitute mothers including her Irish grandfather, who with his Italian brother-in-law run a Chicago restaurant. Although Bob and Grace are strangers at the start of our story, their lives are soon forever intertwined by fate. The impressive supporting cast includes Carroll O'Connor Robert Loggia, James Belushi, Joely Richardson, David Alan Grier and Bonnie Hunt. -- © 2000 MGM

Excellent romatic comedy. Best film in 1999 and 2000. Critics are way off base as usual. The two leads were exeptional, while those social security characters were perfect. Mini driver has an exceptional voice and I wish there were more Irish/Italian oldies sung in that wonderful restaurant. Saw movie three times. Academy award sleeper. g in that wonderful restaurant.Academy award sleeper.

Every once in a while, a film comes along that you have no inclincation to see, but then after you give it a chance you come away with a hit that you could easily stash in your top 5 or 10 favourite films.....this is one of those films! Brilliant  casting and excellent portrayals by David Duchovny, Minnie Driver and Carroll O'Connor make this an unforgettable film.

Great Movie...Duchovny was excellent, no sign of Mulder anywhere. Whole movie was a joy, good old fashioned love story with a 2000 take.

score = 100 comments = My sister and I saw this movie together and loved it.  I haven't laughed that hard in a theater in such a long time.  It was romantic, sad, and extremely funny.  I think we totally related to Bonnie and Jim's characters situations.  The scenes in the bar with the Grandfather and his friends were truly wonderful.  We laughed and laughed.  Thank you so much for such a great film.

This is my new all-time favorite movie, displacing "Fried Green Tomatoes."  Just about any movie that Bonnie Hunt has a hand in creating is sure to have true-to-life characters and warm, witty, intelligent dialogue, and this is her best yet.  Of course, any movie without a car chase automatically gets an extra 10 points from me.

Hilarious movie! Probably one of the best romantic comedy I've seen for a while!  Well-written.

This is a "A must see" movie that is very funny and heart-wrenching. It has a wonderful set of supporting characters and excellent acting/talent in the movie.  It has something for all types of people. Although it does have some bad language.  Which can make a otherwise 100 point movie a lower score.

I've seen it twice since it opened last week.  I cried and Laughed more than any other movie I've. Bonnie Hunts direction and writing were outstanding.  All movies should be so good and entertaining.

I thought "Return to Me" was a brilliant movie with wonderful little quarks that made it a must see movie. The characters interacted beautifully and had a chemistery that you don't see in many movies. Although some parts of the movie were emotional beyond what some of the actors are used to, they played it just right and projected their emotions out to all who watched. I extremely liked David Duchovny's portrayal of the complicated character Bob Rueland. It seemed that Bob was created with David in mind because he expressed him so well. The emotion that was put in to him was unbelievable. I truly have to say that this is a movie that I will see more than once and would like to buy when and if it comes out on video. Congrats on a beautiful movie!

My husband & U, senior citizens, just saw & enjoyed this one. Good, clean, wholesome. Can movies still be all that and good? I needed my klennex. The old men and the girlfrined's family came close to being tiring, but we survived them.
That maile lead reminded me SO MUCH of Richard Gere!!! He may have potential. But I'll still vote for Gere, whose RUNAWAY BRIDE was the last wholesome love story we saw

I absolutely LOVED this movie - it's one of the best ones I've ever seen. The actors did a great job, and the movie itself was very uplifting. I'd see it again in a "heartbeat".

I have seen this movie 5 times and I plan on seeing it again tonight and then buying it and watching it over and over again.  I like simple.  I like no violence, no heavy sexual scenes, no heavy swearing.  I am a die hard romantic and this movie just leaves me feeling just great.  It would be nice to see other movies like this.  David and Minnie have an screen chemistry like that found with Richard Gere and Julia Roberts.  Return to Me and other movies like it just prove that you don't need all the garbage to have a film worth seeing. Thanks Bonnie Hunt!
