Sleepy Hollow: Friday  November 19, 1999

"Sleepy Hollow," a suspenseful and sweeping tale, is a Paramount Pictures and Mandalay Pictures presentation. The film is directed by Tim Burton and stars Johnny Depp, Christina Ricci, Miranda Richardson and Michael Gambon. Inspired by Washington Irving’s classic story, "Sleepy Hollow" is produced by Scott Rudin and Adam Schroeder and executive produced by Francis Ford Coppola and Larry Franco. The screenplay is by Andrew Kevin Walker and the story is by Kevin Yagher and Andrew Kevin Walker. The film also stars Casper Van Dien, Jeffrey Jones, Richard Griffiths, Ian McDiarmid, Michael Gough, Lisa Marie, Marc Pickering, Steve Waddington and Christopher Walken. Paramount Pictures is part of the entertainment operations of Viacom, Inc. Set in 1799, "Sleepy Hollow" is based on Washington Irving’s classic tale The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Faithful to the dreamy custom-bound world that Irving paints in his story, the film mixes horror, fantasy and romance and features an extraordinary cast of characters that dabble in the supernatural. In essence, it is perfect material for director Tim Burton.©1999 by Paramount Pictures and Mandalay Pictures

"Sleepy Hollow" is one of the best movies i've ever seen.  Tim Burton did a great job directing, i think.  Johnny Depp is i brilliant actor, not just in this movie, but the role of Ichabod Crane fit him well.  Christina Ricci is also a wonderful actress, and played the part of Katrina beautifully.  Another actor that played his part well was Christopher Walken.  Although his character as the Hessian Horseman is only in a couple scenes, he played it well.

I thought that Sleepy Hollow was one of the best films I have ever seen, it has everything, romance horror and laughs. Johnny Depp is not only a brilliant actor but he is really good looking too. Christina Ricci is also one of my favourite actresses

I thought this movie was the best!! Not only is Johnny Depp a great actor, he's also really good looking. But beside that fact, the movie alone was great. The ending was totally unexpected for me and I think everyone else in the theater. At some points, the film was hard to follow because of the over-supply of essential characters, but it all came together in the end! This is a great horror movie but also mixes in a little bit of the drama and romance genres. Bottom line, great film!!

Excellant special effects. Johnny Depp is a believable Ichabod Crane. Christopher Walken will give you nightmares as the Headless Horseman. Must see

Great acting, excellent cinematography and an interesting story all add up to a very good movie.  A little on the gorey side, not suitable for kids. I liked it very much.

Gorgeous cinematography.  Nicely restrained performance by Ricci. The setting, although filmed in England, evoked memories of the actual Sleepy Hollow and other Hudson River.  Great supporting cast as well.  Walken's Hessian's lust for mayhem in the flashbacks was chilling...as were his teeth!  And Depp is charming as the hollow-cheeked, scared-of-insects, ever-fainting Ichabod.

This movie was great!  It is rare to actually see a movie that has no nudity or profanity today.  And, what do you know?, it didn't hurt the movie at all!  In fact, it's great to see a movie with wonderful special effects, a good storyline, a great scare, and not be offended by needless "fillers" like nudity and profanity just because there is nothing else to interest the audience!  This movie is a must-see!   Far better than the disappointing End of Days!

I really like the movie, although I am not normally a fan of horror movies. In comparison with the regular "slasher" horror movies, this is excellent. The only killing is totally related to the story-line, and there are no extra scenes that take away from the plot. The actors do a wonderful job, although some of the lines are very "typical horror movie" lines. It is a great movie of it's genre. I think it deserves some awards for scenery and clothing!!

This movie made no sense.  They rushed through many plot points, because if they hadn't, the audience would have realized that the entire motivation for the plot made no sense at all.  Special effects and mood were nice but nothing I hadn't seen before.

This was such an awesome movE. Tim Burton is excellent, as expected, and I agree with Albert,Johnny Depp is a believable Ichabod Crane. He was awesome.I thought that there were excellent costumes and special effects. Christopher Walken sure was creepy! It wasn't very gory compared to "The Sixth Sense" or "starship troopers".I am looking forward to buying the video. A Hands-Down must see!!!!!
