Space Cowboys: Friday August  4, 2000

In 1958, the members of Team Daedalus, a group of top Air Force test pilots, were ready to serve their country as the first Americans in space. When NASA replaced the Air Force for outer atmospheric testing, Team Daedalus was pushed aside and a chimpanzee got the honor. The team retired, but the dream of going into space never died.
Now, over four decades later, the Russian satellite Ikon has suffered a systems failure that Russian officials insist will cause a total communications blackout in their country. NASA official Bob Gerson (JAMES CROMWELL) stumbles toward a solution – and finds it in a very unexpected place. Since Ikon has the same guidance system as early American satellite Skylab, Skylab’s designer should know how to fix Ikon. But Gerson already knows the designer.
Now retired, Frank Corvin (CLINT EASTWOOD) is the one man alive who can do the job. This is the chance of a lifetime but Frank won’t take it unless he can bring the only crew he trusts to do the job with him. © 2000 Warner Brothers

comments = Thank you Clint for making a movie that everyone can see. It was great. Donald Sutherland was so funny. This movie made me interested in NASA again and it makes you feel good about what we have here in America. Your whole family would enjoy this movie.

Funny movie, yet has drama and good story line.  We all age but can retain our value.  Casting worked very well.

Great.  Great script -- yes, I actually listen to the lines. Eastwood is a hilarious straight man.  The plot holds up from earth to space and back again.  If you miss it, it's your loss.

I thought that this movie was really good, but I also think it needed more action in the movie other than the end. It was also sad when Hawk died, and I think that it was amazing how they were able to get back to Earth without a pilot. Overall, I think that this movie was a great sucsess.

Space Cowboys really delivers.  Donald Sutherland is wonderful.  He nearly steals the entertaining film. Clint Eastwood is winning in his role as is Tommy Lee Jones (though he seems a bit too young to be a membe of the space cowboys.  James Garner is well cast too but is given too little to do.  The film has some very humorous moments and also some suspenseful sequences.  All in all a film worth seeing.  Eastwood has put together a very satisfying film indeed!. Recommended!

Space cowboys was a well thought out build up of great writing that lead to its big summer ending. great casting and very like-able characters. amazing effects, should get some awards i think. A good family movie and will definately keep you entertained. a definate exception in the summer offerings. this movie stood out for me. Eastwood, Jones, Sutherland & Gardner are the new boys of Space in film.Good job Clint!
