The Generation Iron Fitness Network and The Vladar Company is officially announcing that they have now begun production on a feature length documentary focused on the life and accomplishments of the quintessential bodybuilding legend, 8-time Mr. Olympia winner Ronnie Coleman entitled Ronnie Coleman the King and directed by prolific documentarian Vlad Yudin (Generation Iron, Jeremy Scott: The People’s Designer). The film is slated for a 2018 global release date.
Ronnie Coleman is one of the most legendary athletes in the history of bodybuilding – holding the world record for most Mr. Olympia titles of all time with 8 wins. Now for the first time ever the world will see the true-life story of the biggest bodybuilder of our time.
“Ronnie Coleman is known as the greatest bodybuilder of all the time. A year ago, when the footage of him surfaced in the wheelchair after another spinal surgery, he made a statement that he only regrets one thing – Not Lifting More Heavy Weights. I was thinking a lot about that statement trying to understand it. With this film, we explore his past and present, trying to understand what it truly takes to be an iconic bodybuilder,” explains director Vlad Yudin.
Known as “The King” of bodybuilding, Ronnie Coleman is a true icon in the sport of bodybuilding comparable to the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger. He is known as one of the heaviest bodybuilders ever to compete in the IFBB and is also known for his aggressive heavy lifting in his training regimen. Since retirement, Ronnie Coleman has suffered a total of 6 major injuries to his spine and hips requiring rehabilitating surgery. He is now on a journey back to 100% recovery so that he can train at peak levels once again.
“I am so excited about my upcoming film with Generation Iron. I’ve never filmed one while being married with kids and having my own business,” states Ronnie Coleman.
Directed by Vlad Yudin, The new documentary will focus on Ronnie Coleman’s recent efforts to recover after his latest spinal surgery so that he can once again train with heavy weights at maximum capacity. The film will also take a deep look into his past career and accomplishments – giving a never before seen look at one of the biggest (literally and figuratively) athletes in the bodybuilding industry.
A joint production between The Vladar Company and The Generation Iron Fitness Network, the film has now begun production with a scheduled release date in Q1 of 2018. Vlad Yudin and Edwin Mejia (Generation Iron) will serve as Producers on the project.
The Vladar Company’s previous releases include the smash hit Generation Iron, which grossed over 1 Million at the U.S. box office to become one of the top 10 grossing docs of 2013. They have also produced the recent sequel Generation Iron 2 and MMA documentary The Hurt Business with Ronda Rousey, Jon Jones and Georges St.Pierre.
