The cinematography is fairly good and
this film has some chilling moments but
as a fan of the books I have to say it
bears almost no relation to the Susan
Cooper story and the depth and richness
of the mythic background to her work is
missing, replaced with a Harry Potterish
straightforwardness which strips all the
conviction and tension away. The acting
is mysteriously wooden on the
supernatural side, leaving it distinctly
unscary. Only one scene might possibly
justify the 12 rating.
Meanwhile if you haven't read the books
and enjoy the Potter movies and have an
afternoon free this isn't a bad way to
spend a couple of hours with your
children. |

If you loved the books( as I have for a
very long time) avoid this film like the
plague.Wrong,wrong,wrong! This could
have been made into a wonderful
film.Everything is in the book and none
of it is impossible with modern special
effects. If they had done it properly
instead of just hacking it about and
missing out the mystical,enthralling
parts they could have made the other 4
books into films. Now I hope they never
do. |

This is a HORRIBLE make on a fabulous
story, the "adaptation attempt" was
abominable and completely changed the
story, nearly the entire context of
Susan Coopers story is LOST, this movie
turned a wonderful story into a chopped
up misery. |

This movie is Fantastic! It tells a
wonderful story in a contemporary
fashion. The characters and plot are
done well. And the cinematography is
great. |

I love this movie because i think it
have like a part of everything. I think
that all the comentaries that are bad
from this movie are wrong. All the
persons that write bad things is because
they are comparing the book with the
movie. But if you see the movie with out
comparing it with the book its a great
moovie. |
