Movies July 3, 2010

The Sorcerer’s Apprentice is just around the corner in preparation of its release, here are few Question and Answer with Toby Kebbell.

The Sorcerer’s Apprentice opens in theaters and IMAX July 14, 2010.

Q: What attracted you to this role?
A: Working with Jerry Bruckheimer for a second time and the chance to work with director Jon Turteltaub. Also, working with a great cast headed up by Nic Cage was an opportunity that I could not pass up.

Q: Please describe your character and what inspired your take on the role.
A: Drake Stone is the greatest illusionist of all time. I based Drake on every pompous, ignorant, delusional, pseudo famous, half-wit that I have ever met in my life. Then I put him in high heels.

Q: What is the best part about playing a sorcerer?
A: The best part about playing this role is being allowed to create something out of pure imagination.

Q: Describe the “tricky” relationship between your character and Alfred Molina’s character, Maxim Horvath.
A: It is not tricky at all. Maxim hates Drake and Drake loves Maxim.

Q: What was it like to work with Alfred Molina?
A: It was more fun than a hundred vacation days at Disneyland.

Q: Describe your experience working with director Jon Turteltaub.
A: It was like hanging out with the richest kid on the planet who has all the best toys and is more generous than Santa Claus. You spend the whole time on the set laughing so hard that your head nearly falls off.

Q: What about New York City lends itself to the film’s world of magic and sorcery?
A: New York is a place where almost anything can happen and yet people still carry on about their lives. So it is the perfect city for magical things to happen and for them to not be out of place.

Q: This is your second time in a Bruckheimer film. What have you learned from working with this legendary producer?
A: I have learned to enjoy life rather than take it so seriously. The wealth of wisdom is more important than all the money on Earth.

Q: Did you believe in magic as a child?
A: I still believe in magic.
