"Absolutely great. Thoroughly captivating. I had heeded the warnings that this WASN'T set to be another sixth sense (unlike many of my fellow reviewers it seems), and basked in the intriguing storyline. Willis just seems to be getting better and better, Jackson is superb as always and it was good to see Spencer Treat Clark again after last years Gladiator success (watch out Haley Joel Osment!). All in all a thoroughly enjoyable movie. WELL DONE (AGAIN!) M.NIGHT SHYMALAN!!" "

"i'm writing from Chile... i think the movie is great. The work with the camera and the plot are worth seeing. I agree with everybody that the end is too sudden, but i can forgive that because everything else in the movie was excelent. Not a movie for John Woo fans !!!! Now i think about it, this movie recalls me of ""WATCHMEN"", the comic book... read it, you'll understand why. Real heros, not x-men, not batman, not whatever... This movie is void of special effects but full of ideas. I don't recall a single bullet in all the film.

"This is a fascinating movie. What is so striking is that the trailor has not much to do with the plot. When I first realized where the plot might be going I thought Shaylaman sure had his work cut out for him, but it turned out to be an interesting work. I just wonder if there will be a sequel. That might be worth a look at as well."

"There is a typical Indian subtility and touch of class in the way this film is touching the theme of good vs evil that has made the heart and bones of the classic Marvel comics. The director brings a very European touch in the way he uses his own city as one of the main movie characters. The story develops in various locations, which have all in common to have very pictural looks and strong affective presences. The script is beautiful, very psychological with the collusion of two lost souls in a very Stephen King alike atmosphere ( remember Dead Zone !)- Suffering and obsession lead to crazyness and from chaos emerge the totaly unexpected. What a movie. much to go about , subjects for many discussions.. Willis , Pen and Jackson are absolutly superb as usual, I am a little bit more reluctant on the young person that plays Willis son, . Still , I would only recommend this movie to people that can read ! not like most of the TV junkies that have expressed their very tempered point of view in the above lines."

"I man OH MY GOSH!!!!! What kind of movie is this??? It ends where most movies begin to go into action!!! I was waitin' for the action sequence at the end, but what happens instead??? He saves one family, and winks at his kid..... What's wrong here??? Then at the end he stops, and then it tells that he notified the police??? This big and bad hero goes and gets the local law enforcements??? He should have fought that bad guy!!! Well, that's my opinion."

"What I'd like to know: is everyone who works in Hollywood, who isn't a director, totally sycophantic? I can't believe that nobody pointed out to Shaylaman that he'd completely botched the ending. It seemed to me that by that stage everyone involved had lost interest - much like the people in the theatres. From the moment Willis' character discovers his calling in life, what started as a reasonably interesting premise begins a rapid slide into mediocrity. The closing scene could well be the worst ending to a movie, ever."

!0 is way too high of a score for unbreakable. The truth of this lamepeice of garbabe can be found in the title ""UN break Able"".This is a case of ego driven, I'll show you just how clever I am pap.Se my suprise ending, see how smart I am, gee look at the clever product placement, I wonder how much Tropicana payed for that slow dull scene were we watch for 3 mins a kid pouring OJ into a glass with the carton looming 40 feet high. The slow build up to events with no payoff made this the worst peice of crap to come down the pipe in a long time. The suprise ending ( Jackson is Dr evil) was not even cool, but it did prove that this director is a one trick pony who might have learned some much needed humillity. "This was the best visual film of the past year, with an ended that almost everyone hates. My point is that only Shyamalan could cause such an intense negative reaction in an audience. I believe that was his point, to have you hate the ending and want more. This way, you could feel like the 2 characters in the movie, who were Unsatisfied all their lives, searching for more. A true classic film, perhaps rivaling works such as Citizen Kane for originality. To create a movie the audience loves, with an ending they hate, elevates Shyamalan to a level that no other director may ever operate at. It remains to be seen if this backfires on him, or whether people return to see the film over and over again, looking for more meaning." "

"This was a gutsy film to make in the wake of Sixth Sense. It's almost tongue in cheek, and makes a lot of sacrifices to stay true to its comic book feel. If you're expecting a serious film, you're going to be disappointed - remember how Elijah keeps saying ""comic books are exaggerated""? This is a little like Starship Troopers - some parts are stupid on purpose. I think its a great film, and the ending is BETTER than Sixth Sense - that ending was a gimmick (cool, but just a gimmick) whereas Unbreakable's is the key to the movie's outlandish theme. I think this is a very complex film, much more than Sixth Sense - maybe less enjoyable, but more complex. On another note, do you really think Shyalaman is THAT great a director? He gets points for mood and colour (but can't do it nearly as well as the director of Seven), but other than that, he's not exactly inventive or tricky. He's just kinda...there. Anyway - just my opinion..."

"I am a huge Bruce Willis fan, however I was very disappointed by this movie. The story line was far fetched and ""strange"". I don't regret seeing it but I would tell people to wait till it's out on video. The $12 I paid wasn't worth it. Still like Bruce but movie was a flop in my eyes. JUst an opinion though."

"I seem to be reading comparisons everywhere of M. Night and Alfred Hitchcock. Well, all I can say is that perhaps Hitchcock's worst are comparible to this piece of garbage! God, I hate this film. Pityfull writing, poor plot lines, dead end subplots, weak characters, over precious performances... did I mention pityfull writing? As for the superhuman element...Jesus H Christ!! The fact that M. Night actually took his own script seriously is of major concern. Although not quite as major a concern as the fact that a studio threw a multi million dollar paycheck to him for it. Bravo to Bruce Willis, Jackson and Wright-Penn for doing such a comedy -- because that's what those over precious moments came across as - to myself and the majority of cinema goers of post-pubescent maturity! Wright-Penn being one of the best actors of her generation -- I find it somehow unfathomable to why she chose this film. Surely money wouldn't make you stoop this low?! And now that I think about it -- change my score to a five -- the worst scenes and dialogue are drifting back to me, someone must pay -- yes, 5 out of 100. The title music held me for at least five beats! A word of warning M. Night -- Comic books and their larger than life characters are best portrayed tongue firmly planted in cheek -- hope you remember that when writing the forth installment of Indiana Jones." "

"I was completely involved in this movie until the sudden and abrupt ending, where I felt the movie was just beginning to answer some of its main questions. Shyamalan succeeded again in creating beautiful cinematography, yet it did not make up for the unsatisfying ending. I knew that there would be a surprise ending and I know what Shyamalan was trying explain, but the ending came across as a documentary type explanation of the after events of the characters. It did not seem to fit within the context of the movie even though it was meant to portray comic book style. The film would have been a lot better if it had drawn out the ending for a few more minutes, and left out the annoying subtitles. " "

Chris Bladgon

"This film had much potential. Where it was lost no one will ever know. The entire movie was built around one climax. And at that, the climax was a poor one. The ending was too abrupt and left you on the edge of your seat for more, hoping that that something amazing was going to happen. But simply nothing happened. Bruce what were you thinking? In the mean time don’t waste your time and money on this flick. "

"This movie was terrible, an actual chore to watch. They attempted to inject some form of dimensionality into the characters by filling them with character flaws, moral dilemmas and such, but in the end all of them came off as overbearingly annoying. The kid especially. It is almost ludicrous that the writer will have us believe that a kid could so firmly believe that his father is a super hero as to threaten to shoot him to prove his 'Unbreakablility'. The earlier scene where they kept adding weights to the barbells was excruciating to watch, 20 minutes of, ""how much have you added now? how much have you added now?"" just to prove a simple point. I cannot stress how much I hated this movie, it was a combination of the lame dialogue, the attempt to create this psudo-comic book world and link it to reality (ooh how profound a writer he is...) and the way in which Bruce Willis embraces his powers (pushing the news report of his antice to his son, he whispers ""shh, don't tell mom"")all add up to one of the worst movies that I have seen in my life. I mean the fact that Samuel Jackson discusses Willis' vulnerability, ""Both you and me are vurnerable to water, when we breathe it in we drown, therefore there is a link between us"" with this kind of rational should only highlight the absurdity of this whole venture. Please do not watch it. Please" "

"I HESITATE TO GIVE THIS MOVIE A""10"". THE BEST WORD I CAN USE TO DESCRIBE THIS MOVIE IS ""AWFUL"". THERE WERE 6 OF US THAT WENT TOGETHER TO SEE THE MOVIE. RESPONSES RANGED FROM LITERALLY FALLING ASLEEP TO WANTING TO LEAVE HALFWAY INTO THE FILM.YOU COULD HEAR THE AUDIENCE WHISPERING AND SNICKERING THROUGHOUT THE MOVIE, AND IT WASN'T BECAUSE IT WAS INTERESTING OR FUNNY. I THINK THE KITCHEN SCENE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE SERIOUS, BUT THE WHOLE THEATER WAS HOWLING WITH LAUGHTER. I THINK EVERYONE HAD REALIZED BY THEN JUST HOW BAD THIS MOVIE WAS AND HOW WRONG IT WAS THAT WE HAD WASTED OUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON THIS POOR EXCUSE FOR A MOVIE. AT BEST, THIS MOVIE BELONGS ON LATE, LATE, LATE NIGHT TV FOR FREE. I HAVE TO WONDER WHAT IN THE WORLD TWO VETERAN ACTORS LIKE WILLIS AND JACKSON COULD HAVE POSSIBLY BEEN THINKING WHEN THEY ADDED THIS FILM TO THEIR LIST OF CREDITS (OR IN THIS CASE-DISCREDITS). THIS MOVIE WILL PULL IN AUDIENCES FOR A WHILE BECAUSE OF THE TRAILER AND BECAUSE IT'S RIDING ON THE SUCCESS OF THE SIXTH SENSE. BUT FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVEN'T SEEN IT YET, PUT IT ON YOUR LIST OF ""MUST NOT SEE"" MOVIES. AS AN ALTERNATIVE, I SUGGEST STAYING HOME AND DOING YOUR LAUNDRY OR CLEANING YOUR BATHROOM--THAT WILL BE SO MUCH MORE ENTERTAINING AND SATISFYING THAN THIS MOVIE--IT TRULY SUCKS...." "

"I'll say that the content of the movie was disappointing, but the script itself came together beautifully. First off, you must come to the theater without any notion of Unbreakable being anything like the Sixth Sense. The only way to describe this movie is it was a REALISTIC COMIC BOOK. And it was filmed beautifully to coincide with this thought. Definitely recommend, but not with high expectation. You either like it or you don't." "

"This movie was very slow indeed so those of you fast paced gun slingin gun jockeys need not see this. M. Night Shaymalan is a genius at directing, the angles and shots that appear in both ""Unbreakable"" and the ""Sixth Sense"" are breathtaking and really make the whole experience of the movie that much more dramatic. The surprise ending that most people view as underrated is actually quite captivating since it is in fact a ""surprise ending!"" Though it may be on the slower side I believe that Unbreakable is one of the better movie to hit theatres this holiday season and is a must see for anyone intelligent or patient enough to sit through a great story and come to realize that it in fact was a good movie despite the quick ending. Bruce Willis once again shows us what makes hjim one of the best actors in the ""biz"" these days, and Sam Jackson once again shows us how cool he is when he thinks he knows everything and is right. I say this is a must see for any real film enthusiast and I would highly reccomend this for any ""soon-to-be directors,"" you could learn a lot." "

"How Samuel Jackson decided to do this sleeper of a movie, I'll never understand. At one point he has a set of lines about how comic book text is profound, in the same way that ancient Egyptian writing is meaningful. Is someone on crack here, or what? Trying to assert that comic books are profound, and then presenting us with a predictable comic book plot is juvenile and boring. A loser flick, The 6th Sense was much better."

"M. Night did it again. We're looking at the beginnings of a brilliant new director and I look forward to more of his movies. How to talk about Unbreakable without blowing the whole movie? Go see it if you want to know the plot, it's awesome. Samuel L Jackson delivers his part with uneasy obsession. Bruce Willis delivers his with a subtle melancholy. The tone of the movie is heavy, all looks pretty bad from the outset but the ending leaves our hero and us with a renewed sense of purpose. And about Shyamalan's signature ""twist"" ending, don't go expecting any jolts or shocks like Sixth Sense or you'll be sorely disappointed. Remember to stay focussed and pay attention here and this will be a rewarding experience. " "

"This movie was a waste of time and money. It was a dumb movie, the story line wasn't very good and the ending really sucked. If I were you I would hold out on watching this movie. And as for them making it a trilology that would be a bad idea." "

"If like movies with stupid ends, definitely go this this moive. You can see the build up in story line then the end- really disappointing. It looked like a cheap film to make and I found the story very slow. So if what I have written does not scare you off then go see this film. Go ahead enjoy, but you can't say I did not warn you my friend. Peace"

"While I was watching this movie, I was really lost, but everything started to come into play. I really enjoyed this movie. I thought the ending was great and suprising. So, if you liked Unbreakable, well, then you'll most-likely enjoy the next 2 sequels coming up.

"This movie's script had some real potential, unfortunately the movie itself fell a bit short of that potential preformance. No blame on Willis or Jackson as they did a fine job of portraying the ""comic"" charicters. The problem seemed to lie in the dragged out way the story was presented, and also the predictability for most people of the sudden, lame finish. All that set aside, the story in itself does deserve a look, though I would wait for it to come out on video and pay $3.95 to let the whole family view this and not have to pay $30.00 at the box office. "I felt cheated. This movie had no coherent substance to it. Throughout the movie, it draws the audience to find out what Samuel L. Jackson's purpose was, but in the end, just gives a lame theory and abruptly ends the movie when the audience was ready for it to begin. The director lured the audience in from his success from the ""Sixth Sense"" but really had a poor script to work with in the Unbreakable. I rate it next to Escape from LA."

BEN
Score ="40"
"The movie could never be ""sixth Sense"" so we are all unfair I think to hold this work to that standard, but this movie is slow and vaugue. Unlike Sixth Sense which was very clear once you knew the ""trick""...this is the stuff of a debate on esoterica not a mainline studio release. But 600 million buys a lot of chances to screw up. Willis is redundant. Jackson has bad hair and little depth but Ms. Wright-Penn is wonderfully understated and believable. She saved the day for me and kept this one from being rated even lower."

"Its easy to say that Unbreakable is full of sound and fury signifying nothing. That it is a keenly crafted buildup to a frankly unsatisfying and unjustified ending is only the obvious picture of a lovingly crafted film which is talking about some big subjects. I find myself forgiving the failures of ""Unbreakable"" (and they are big) to try to understand the reason for its creation. What is being said about good , evil, man, god and the meaning of life here? I do believe that ""Unbreakable"" is not a charger plate full of claptrap but an effort to review in dead earnest some structure of our moral universe which I cannot quite dicipher yet but which may be worth the effort in seeking. If I can organise answers to my questions about certain symbolic notes within the picture I might be happier about the whole experience. Hopefully the answers i seek will not be merely literary conventions hung onto a filmscript to make it seem important. Hopefully,Shyamalan is making his own serious musings about life into answerable or at least askable questions worth thinking about. --what is the significance of the woman on the ill fated train to whom our hero seems attracted in a somewhat furtive manner. what is the significance of the ""god"" who is intended to be her client. Why is water the one weakness Bruce Willis Character is vulnerable to. (is there some literary or biblical connection such as baptism which has worth in ferreting an organised assembly of the symbolical references in this film) (Im hoping that there is a big question asked by unbreakable) what is that question? Is there an answer proposed for it? How are we to understand the strange moral stance taken by the Samual Jackson Character who slaughters people wholesale to discover the whereabouts or existence of a true hero? Weirdly this act does not seem to be for the purpose of locating a worthy adversary but to launch a genuinely morally good career. What character in our world can justify such a horror for a purpose ultimately which is not horrible. Perhaps only god. I admit that putting the puzzle together here is a daunting task but I get the gnawing feeling that it might not be baloney masquerading as significance. If nothing else it feels like ""Unbreakable"" poses a question worth answering on the eternal verities. I hope so and I am still trying to figure out what it is. Well crafted claptrap at the worst, subtle voyage into a true moral dilemma not simply judged at best."

"Yawn... Lame. We were expecting something to rival Sixth Sense, but I suppose that'd be too much to ask. I can't figure if this was supposed to be a comedy or what - it had its moments. But I think the snickers I heard were more laughing at the movie than with it. Especially the scene where Jackson reveals his ""theory."" Lame."

"We all know that Bruce Willis is ""unbreakable"", but is this movie? This highly anticipated film turned out to be a little disappointing. M. Night Shyamalan probably did the best possilbe job he could, but has no ""Sixth Sense"" this time. The movie moves foward with no twists till the end (much like the Sixth Sense). Unlike the Sixth Sense though, Unbreakable does not keep the view awake. Maybe next time Shyamalan! " "

"I guess like someone said it is really hard to make the second movie after your first one made a cool $600m. The second movie of M. Night Sh'lan has a sauntering story-telling pace to it. What it lacks in breathtaking cinematography (common of Thanksgiving releases) it makes up in acting and screenplay. I am happy to see movies with a relatively high index of unpredictability in an age of ""Bagger Vance"" movies which is like watching Tiger Woods play golf with the help of a supernatural caddy. Any guesses on who wins at the end on that one. Well back to Unbreakable, I guess it would be mean to give away the punch line but suffice to say that don't fall in love with any of the characters too soon while watching the movie.... A must see on my book !"
