Amazon MGM Studios and Alliance Home Entertainment are celebrating 50 years of one of cinema’s most enduring classics with the release of the Rocky 50th Anniversary Edition, arriving on 4K UHD and Blu-ray SteelBook December 15, 2026.
Written by and starring Sylvester Stallone and directed by John G. Avildsen, Rocky remains one of the most influential sports dramas ever made. Since its theatrical debut in 1976, the film’s story of perseverance, determination, and personal triumph has resonated with audiences around the world and helped launch one of Hollywood’s most successful franchises.
Nominated for ten Academy Awards®, Rocky went on to win three Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Film Editing. The film follows struggling Philadelphia boxer Rocky Balboa, who is given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to challenge heavyweight champion Apollo Creed. As he prepares for the biggest fight of his life, Rocky also finds purpose and confidence through his relationship with Adrian, creating a story that extends far beyond the boxing ring.
The film’s acclaimed ensemble cast includes Talia Shire, Burt Young, Carl Weathers, and Burgess Meredith, alongside Stallone’s iconic performance as Rocky Balboa.
The new 50th Anniversary Edition will be released in premium SteelBook packaging and includes a collectible mini-poster. The set features both 4K UHD and Blu-ray discs, offering fans a commemorative edition of the Academy Award-winning classic.
The 4K UHD disc includes three audio commentaries featuring Sylvester Stallone, cast and crew members, filmmakers, and boxing experts who provide additional insight into the film’s production and legacy.
The included Blu-ray disc contains more than three hours of bonus features, highlighted by archival 8mm home movie footage from the production, a three-part making-of documentary, and a collection of featurettes examining the film’s music, makeup, direction, cinematography, and lasting cultural impact.
