Sony Pictures Classics will release David Wain’s new comedy Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass in theaters nationwide on July 10, 2026. The film made its world premiere at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, where it earned strong reviews for its sharp humor, chaotic energy, and Wain’s signature ensemble‑driven style.
Shot entirely on location in Los Angeles, the film follows Gail Daughtry, a small‑town hairdresser happily engaged to her high‑school sweetheart, Tom. But when Tom unexpectedly cashes in his “celebrity pass” at a book signing, Gail’s world implodes. Reeling from the betrayal, she impulsively heads to L.A. with her friend Otto—only to be told by a psychic that the only way to save her marriage is to “even the scales” with her own celebrity pass: Jon Hamm.
What follows is a star‑studded, city‑spanning odyssey through Hollywood as Gail and Otto team up with a talent‑agency assistant, a paparazzo, and actor John Slattery in their increasingly unhinged quest to track down Hamm. Along the way, they collide with celebrities, dodge Italian assassins, and plunge deeper into Tinseltown absurdity.
