Sony Pictures Home Entertainment Launches “Battle: Los Angeles” Mobile Augmented Reality App Worldwide

By | June 8, 2011

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment today announced its Battle: Los Angeles Layar app is now available in the US in the Android Marketplace and the iTunes App Store, making it the first Home Entertainment studio to leverage the latest Layar software release for a promotional campaign.

Based on the international box office hit BATTLE: LOS ANGELES, starring Aaron Eckhart and Michelle Rodriguez, this augmented reality app allows users to virtually create and share a “world invasion” – including aliens and battle drones – in their town, office or home via their phone camera’s view screen! Users can also take screenshots of their “reality” and post to Facebook or Twitter.

Inside the app, you can also access an exclusive sneak peek of a playable game demo of the highly anticipated, first-person shooter PlayStation®3 game Resistance® 3, the latest installment of the post-apocalyptic franchise coming in September from developer Insomniac games. You can also enter for a chance to win a PS®3 ™system!

The BATTLE: LOS ANGELES Layar app is available for free in the Android Marketplace and the iTunes App Store for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, and will also be available in select territories worldwide, translated into Dutch, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and Russian.
